A New Dawn at Futamata River Library
In a groundbreaking initiative, the Futamata River Library, a community space by "Mottoba!", has officially opened its doors directly connected to Futamata River Station in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Managed by "Good Office," known for its extensive workspaces across Japan, this facility presents a dynamic environment aiming to foster intergenerational connection and collaboration.
A Space for Everyone
Unlike conventional workspaces, the Futamata River Library is designed to be a hub for individuals across various age groups, from teenagers to seniors. Here, both young professionals engaged in remote work and octogenarians enjoying tea with friends coexist harmoniously. This vibrant atmosphere is what sets the library apart, encouraging members to learn from one another through spontaneous interactions.
The environment here is intentionally crafted to empower members. Users can switch roles from learners to instructors, fostering deeper connections and knowledge sharing. The essence of this space lies in offering the freedom to either engage in lively discussions or simply focus on personal tasks, whatever suits one’s mood.
A Flexible and Functional Design
Spanning over 230 square meters and accommodating 48 seats, the library is divided into three distinct areas: a collaboration space, a work zone, and a focused study area. This layout grants visitors the flexibility to choose a setting that best fits their needs—be it a casual meeting at a communal table, an intense study session in a quiet corner, or a relaxed break at the counter area.
For individuals requiring privacy, three semi-private booths are provided for online meetings at no additional cost, available through a reservation system.
Affordable and Accessible
The library is not only about community engagement; it’s also affordable. With opening hours from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, the rates are highly competitive: 500 yen per hour and a maximum of 2,500 yen for a full day. There are various membership plans too, ranging from the all-day access “Platinum Plan” to the economical “Bronze Plan,” catering to different schedules and budgets.
Convenient Location
Conveniently located directly at Futamata River Station, accessing the facility is hassle-free, even during rainy days. The proximity to shopping and dining options allows for a quick stop before or after enjoying a meal or running errands.
