Celebrating a Decade of Progress: The STA Women in Finance Symposium
STA Women in Finance Symposium: A Celebration of Ten Years
The Security Traders Association (STA) is set to celebrate a significant milestone as it rolls out the full program for its 10th Annual Women in Finance Symposium on October 15, 2025. This year’s event, part of the STA's 92nd Annual Market Structure Conference, will take place at the luxurious JW Marriott in Washington, D.C.
Keynote Speaker and Mentor of the Year
Headlining this year’s symposium is Georgie Dickins, an internationally acclaimed speaker, author, and seasoned C-Suite coach. With a wealth of experience spanning across two decades in high-ranking positions at prestigious firms such as J.P. Morgan, Reuters, and ICAP, Dickins is recognized as a leading voice in modern leadership strategies. Her keynote address is anticipated to inspire attendees and provide invaluable insights into navigating the complex landscape of finance today.
In addition, the STA will honor Shelley Eleby, the Chief Marketing Officer at Mosaic Platforms, as the 2025 Mentor of the Year. This recognition is a testament to her unwavering commitment to fostering and promoting women within the sector. Eleby's dedication to mentorship has made a profound impact on many aspiring leaders in finance, making her an ideal recipient of this award.
Ten Years of Advocacy for Women in Finance
Since its inception in 2015, the STA Women in Finance initiative has dedicated itself to addressing the unique career requirements of women in the securities industry. Through a combination of networking opportunities, educational seminars, and professional development resources, the program aims to uplift and empower women at every stage of their careers. The Annual Symposium has become a cornerstone of the initiative, providing a dynamic platform for female professionals to connect, exchange ideas, and engage with peers across various facets of the industry.
Reflecting on a decade of progress, Jim Toes, President and CEO of STA, shared, “STA Women in Finance stands as one of our proudest achievements. For 10 years, it has provided a platform for women across the industry to forge meaningful connections and amplify their voices.” This symposium marks not just a celebration of past achievements but a commitment to future growth and change.
A Look Ahead to the Future
This year's symposium features a robust program, showcasing insights and discussions that resonate with the theme of mentorship. Celebrating the launch of their first mentorship program earlier this year, STA Women in Finance has focused on bridging the gap between seasoned professionals and emerging talents, fostering an environment where real-world perspectives can flourish.
Christine Lee, Head of Business Development at Liquidnet and 2025 STA WIF Chair, stated, “The 10th anniversary of STA WIF is a natural moment to reflect on progress made and the promising future ahead. We have created pathways for women to grow, lead, and thrive through advocacy and collaboration.” The organization continues to strive for enhanced access, community building, and the advancement of women in finance, setting an ambitious agenda for the years to come.

As STA Women in Finance prepares for this anticipated event, it encourages industry professionals, advocates of gender equality, and supporters of women in leadership roles to attend.
