Remote Production for Children's Newspaper
In a significant development for local journalism, TONICHI Media Gate initiated remote production services for the children's newspaper 'Weekly Sanin Manabun' effective November 23. This service leverages the newspaper sharing system developed by the Japan Press Federation, allowing TONICHI’s editorial staff to connect remotely from its headquarters in Koto Ward, Tokyo. The collaboration with the Sanin Chuo Shimpo, located in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, marks the second local newspaper to utilize this innovative solution, following the Tokushima Shimbun.
The remote production service incorporates a cloud-based layout environment within the newspaper sharing system, enabling TONICHI employees to contribute to the creation of news and feature pages from a distance. This initiative is regarded as a part of the broader 'TONICHI Media Gate' project, which aims to pave the way for the future of media and has been in operation since April of this year.
The 'Weekly Sanin Manabun' was founded with the vision of using newspapers as a tool to support the healthy growth of children, who are seen as the treasures of the community. Published every Sunday, the paper features content that presents news in an engaging and easily understandable manner, using diagrams and illustrations to explain key points and contextual background. This approach has garnered positive feedback from its young readers and their families.
The editorial teams at TONICHI work closely with the responsible departments at Sanin Chuo Shimpo to ensure the newspaper meets the needs of its audience. Each issue of 'Weekly Sanin Manabun' is crafted by a dedicated director and editorial staff, ensuring quality and relevance in each publication.
As a core company within the Mainichi Shimbun Group, TONICHI has a proven track record of producing a diverse array of media, including evening newspapers, specialty publications, municipal newsletters, and university publications. Moving forward, TONICHI is committed to bolstering its support of newspapers at the prefectural and local levels, underscoring its commitment to preserving newspaper culture in Japan.
