EVE Energy Achieves Landmark TÜV SÜD Certification
In a groundbreaking achievement for the electric vehicle (EV) battery sector, EVE Energy, a leading global manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries, has been awarded the prestigious TÜV SÜD certification for its electric vehicle batteries. This certification marks the first of its kind in the industry and was issued in accordance with the European Union's regulation (EU) 2023/1542. The certification was granted on December 18, 2024, by TÜV SÜD, a renowned global organization specializing in testing, inspection, and certification services.
The TÜV SÜD certification serves as a preliminary audit certificate for Module D1 of the EU regulation assessment procedures for electric vehicle batteries. It attests to EVE Energy's technical expertise and robust quality management system, reinforcing the company's market position on the international stage, particularly within the European Union.
To ensure successful navigation through this certification process, EVE Energy established a dedicated task force comprised of specialists from various departments, including strategy, research and development, production, quality control, ESG, legal affairs, and supply chain. This collaborative effort led to a thorough and successful audit, culminating in TÜV SÜD's approval.
The EU regulation (EU) 2023/1542 sets forth requirements governing the entire lifecycle of electric vehicle batteries, aiming to support the EU's circular economy and carbon neutrality goals. This framework encompasses all phases from production to recycling, imposing stringent requirements on electric vehicle batteries. This includes regulations concerning restricted substances, carbon footprint, recycled materials, as well as performance and durability standards, ensuring products align with the EU’s environmental and sustainable development objectives.
EVE Energy's battery certification comprehensively meets all stipulations laid out by EU regulation (EU) 2023/1542, which addresses safety measures, restricted substances, carbon footprint, performance, durability, labeling, battery health status, and anticipated lifespan. TÜV SÜD also assessed EVE Energy’s quality management system in accordance with Module D1 of the compliance assessment procedure.
In tracking its carbon footprint, EVE Energy adheres closely to the delegated regulation project methodology of the EU regulation (EU) 2023/1542. The company has collected specific data from seven factories, involving over 200 flows, and completed a carbon footprint dataset utilizing the Environmental Impact Assessment method (EF 3.1). Additionally, EVE Energy has implemented a comprehensive system to manage the carbon footprint of its electric vehicle batteries, ensuring quality data management throughout the lifecycle.
This verification by TÜV SÜD positions EVE as the first battery manufacturing enterprise to measure the carbon footprint of its electric vehicle batteries and establish a corresponding data quality system per EU regulation (EU) 2023/1542. This accomplishment highlights EVE’s capabilities in carbon emission management and compliance with pertinent policies.
From product development to production, EVE Energy diligently adheres to EU testing requisites and harmonized international standards concerning environmental protection, safety, performance sustainability, and data traceability. This process encompasses a rigorous factory-level self-assessment as well as a detailed review of upstream suppliers.
Securing TÜV SÜD certification reflects EVE Energy's commitment to product quality and enterprise system excellence while showcasing its proactive approach in meeting international market demands. This certification enhances the competitiveness of EVE Energy's comprehensive lithium battery solutions in the global battery market, allowing the company to assert its influence on global platforms including EU market access.
Looking ahead, EVE Energy and TÜV SÜD plan to deepen their collaboration to assist Chinese battery companies in achieving global expansion. EVE Energy aims to leverage this partnership to foster innovation and implement green energy technologies, contributing to global green development objectives and tackling climate change challenges. The company is committed to collaborating with partners across the global value chain to create a cleaner, more sustainable future.
