Corporate Development Head Lectures on Regional Branding at Meisei University

Red Horse Corporation's Involvement in Regional Branding Education

On May 29th, Tatsuya Kudo, the Head of Product Development at Red Horse Corporation, took the stage as a guest lecturer for Meisei University’s Department of Management. This initiative, which has been underway for the second consecutive year, focuses on enhancing regional branding and revitalizing local communities.

Kudo's lecture, titled "Development of Regional Brands and Contribution to Regional Revitalization", was part of the Regional Brand Management course, aimed at second-year students. The collaboration was made possible through the invitation from Professor Koichi Kataoka, continuing from a prior engagement that included discussions about local tax donations from Nikaho City in Akita Prefecture.

During the 90-minute lecture, Kudo emphasized the importance of understanding one's own region before developing a brand. He posed the question, "How much do you truly know about your local area?" This thought-provoking question aimed to highlight students' often limited knowledge of their home regions, leading to the insightful conclusion that a true regional brand cannot be established without this critical understanding.

Throughout the session, Kudo shared various case studies from across Japan, demonstrating how a single product development can invigorate an entire community. The students, numbering around ten, actively engaged by taking notes and participating in discussions about the presented examples. After presenting several products, Kudo opened the floor for questions. Students inquired about other products not covered in his lecture, the challenges faced during product development, and ways to effectively handle unique ingredients used in their offerings.

While time did not permit for an in-depth discussion during the lecture, arrangements were made for a follow-up session where students would delve into brainstorming sessions under Professor Kataoka's guidance. Topics for future discussions will include additional product ideas from Nikaho City and strategies to enhance the visibility of existing products like soybean meat and gapao rice mixes.

The commitment of Red Horse Corporation to regional development is not merely academic. The company aims to foster a culture of self-sustainable communities by actively working to create business models that empower local economies. Central to this vision is the focus on nurturing human resources. Red Horse Corporation plans to collaborate with high schools and universities nationwide to cultivate local talent, ensuring that young people can thrive in their communities.
