Manami’s journey to this victory is truly inspiring. From a young age, she exhibited a passion for illustration, eventually specializing in Interior Design during high school. Her pursuit of creativity continued at an art school where she honed her skills in design and painting. After gaining hands-on experience at a transitional employment support agency, she mastered graphic design using Illustrator and Photoshop, preparing her for a career path within the creative industry.

After joining Tokyo Business Services, she not only contributed her talents in creating flyers and illustrations but also maintained her commitment to further honing her design expertise. Her perseverance paid off when she later received the Director-General’s Recommended Award at the “Disability Employment Support Month Painting and Photography Contest” in 2023.

As the competition approached, Manami prepared diligently by studying the works of past participants and reviewing informative videos. She analyzed the exam content, focusing on the key points that judges valued most. Despite initial anxieties regarding her participation, her mindset shifted as the event date neared. Believing in the significance of her involvement and her previous efforts, she embraced the opportunity with renewed vigor.

After the event, anxiety lingered until the results were announced. When she learned of her gold medal accomplishment, Manami expressed her joy, affirming her desire to create designs that captivate viewers by emphasizing the images that emerge post-printing.

The Tokyo Abilympics occurs on February 14, 2026, at the Tokyo Vocational Skills Development School, located in Kokubunji City, Tokyo. It underscores the talent and potential of individuals with disabilities in various fields, including the creative arts.
