Easier Travel Connectivity with Wildpath Transportation
As the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport prepares for its closure for construction from April 4 to November 19, 2027, travelers can look forward to a streamlined transportation option provided by Wildpath Transportation. The Colorado-based company will run a reservation-based shuttle service linking Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) to popular destinations in the Roaring Fork Valley, including Aspen and Snowmass.
The airport closure poses a challenge for passengers looking to navigate between the airport and the valley, but Wildpath's new service aims to address this with six to eight scheduled trips daily in each direction, all synchronized with flight times. The fare is competitively priced at $69 one way, making it an affordable alternative to rental cars that would contribute to congestion on local roadways.
This innovative solution emerges from collaboration with the Fly Aspen Snowmass Coalition, which includes key stakeholders like the Aspen Chamber Resort Association and Town of Snowmass Village. The initiative is designed not only to facilitate easier transit for visitors but also to alleviate traffic on Highway 82 and I-70 during the construction phase.
Shuttle Details
The shuttle service consists of two interconnected lines: the EGE Line, which serves as a reservation-based transfer between the airport and the Brush Creek Intercept Lot, and the Valley Loop, an on-demand shuttle for last-mile connectivity throughout Aspen and Snowmass. Riders can easily reserve their seats through Wildpath's website or mobile app and expect comfortable vans to meet them at designated stops, including Glenwood Springs and Basalt.
The EGE Line is tailored to meet United and American Airlines' flight schedules, with pickups designed to ensure riders arrive at the airport approximately 70 minutes ahead of their flights. This thoughtful timing reflects the need for reliable transportation that aligns with travelers' schedules, particularly as Airport Operations Manager Bill Tomcich noted the surge in flights during the closure period.
“Wildpath has thoroughly prepared to meet the transportation needs of both locals and visitors during the airport’s closure,” Tomcich said.
A Growing Fleet and Job Opportunities
To ensure optimal service, Wildpath is expanding its fleet to include 22 Mercedes Sprinter vans, some of which will be wheelchair accessible to accommodate all passengers. The capacity for each trip will be dynamically adjusted based on reservation data to ensure a seamless travel experience.
Moreover, the company is actively recruiting drivers, dispatchers, and managers in the Aspen and Eagle County regions, providing local employment opportunities in the wake of increased tourism. Interested candidates can reach out directly to Wildpath for more information or to apply.
A Commitment to Connectivity
Ultimately, Wildpath Transportation emphasizes its dedication to creating a reliable and efficient travel corridor between EGE and the Roaring Fork Valley. Justin Carroll, the founder, emphasizes the ease and reliability travelers will experience once the shuttle service commences.
"We’re honored to be trusted with this responsibility,” said Carroll. “Our goal is to make booking a seat as easy as showing up and getting you where you need to go.”
As the launch date approaches, Wildpath invites travelers to stay updated via their website, ensuring everyone can plan their journey without hassle during this pivotal construction period.
