The Global Expansion of the 3rd Annual Flags of Fellowship Campaign
The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews recently reported a significant increase in participation for its Flags of Fellowship campaign, occurring annually on October 7. Celebrating its third anniversary, this year's campaign has seen participation more than double from the previous year, showcasing unity against anti-Semitism. Over 4,375 churches, synagogues, universities, and organizations from 13 countries are set to take part, collectively planting more than 5.2 million flags in a powerful display of solidarity with Israel and the Jewish community.
A Movement of Hope and Remembrance
Running from October 2-11 and throughout the month, participating organizations will display fields consisting of 1,200 mini Israeli flags, complemented by special events like worship services and community gatherings. The goal of these activities is to visually and vocally demonstrate support for Israel amid rising global anti-Semitism.
In the United States, 10 prominent evangelical churches from states such as Tennessee, California, and New Jersey will act as flagship churches hosting various FOF events, including welcoming local dignitaries and survivors from the October 7 attacks to share their experiences and inspire hope.
Furthermore, the campaign's reach has now expanded to include over 1,775 international churches and organizations, engaging communities from countries as diverse as Australia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
Emphasizing Friendship over Division
Yael Eckstein, President and Global CEO, emphasizes that while stories of division may dominate headlines, Flags of Fellowship represents a contrasting narrative—one focused on friendship between Christians and Jews. Eckstein highlights that when churches plant an Israeli flag, they express a spiritual statement rather than a political stance, fostering friendship, remembrance, and faithfulness.
“The visual representation of flags symbolizes not just remembrance, but also unity,” Eckstein stated. “Each flag planted transforms mourning into meaningful action and loss into a lasting legacy.”
International Growth Through Community Engagement
A notable aspect of this year's campaign is its new hub model. Leading churches will serve as regional distribution centers, equipping their networks with flags and essential materials for the campaign. In areas like Colombia, around 1,000 churches are expected to erect an impressive 1.2 million Israeli flags, showcasing a strong commitment to supporting Israel.
César Fernández, a Fellow Ambassador Pastor in Colombia, remarked, “Our churches have a profound desire to strengthen the bond of friendship between Christians and Jews, and we are excited to contribute to this global movement.”
Continued Commitment to Humanitarian Causes
In addition to the Flags of Fellowship campaign, The Fellowship has pledged a staggering $432 million in support for Israel since October 7, 2023. This funding goes towards addressing emergency needs, providing food and water, and supporting those vulnerable in the ongoing conflict. As it continues to assist individuals making Aliyah, The Fellowship reinforces its mission to uplift and aid communities not just in times of calm but especially during crises.
