Capacity Development Training Program: A Collaborative Initiative

Nagoya University of Commerce and Business (NUCB) is taking a significant step in international education by welcoming a delegation of ten officials from Egypt's Ministry of Higher Education. Beginning from November 25, 2023, these public servants will partake in the fourth phase of the Capacity Development Management Training (CDM Training) for three weeks, concluding on December 13.

The CDM Training program, initiated in 2023, aims to enhance the comprehension of Japanese social and educational systems, higher education policies, and university management among participants. The program utilizes a blend of case method classes and lectures by external experts, alongside practical site visits within Aichi Prefecture, ensuring that attendees gain real-world insights.

Training Schedule and Themes

Week 1: Understanding Japan’s Society and Education System

From November 25 to November 29, participants will engage in lectures focused on "Education and Society." This segment educates them about Japan's societal values, the historical evolution of its education system, and foundational concepts supporting education, delivered by experts including Prof. Yuko Yamamoto and Associate Prof. Yuri Ichikawa. Participants will also visit notable locations such as the Nagoya Environmental Learning Center and the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology.

Week 2: Japanese Higher Education Structure

The second week, running from December 2 to December 6, delves into the frameworks of Japan's higher education and governance. Led by Prof. Jun Kudo, the lectures will cover quality assurance and evaluation processes in higher education. Attendees will visit the Aichi Prefectural Board of Education to witness firsthand the intricacies of educational policy formation and functioning.

Week 3: University Management Practices

The final week, taking place from December 9 to December 13, concentrates on university management topics such as leadership, financial operations, and industry-academia collaborations. Under the guidance of Prof. Yuichi Kondo, participants will focus on acquiring practical knowledge that can be applied to higher education reforms back in Egypt. They will also engage with the administrative functions directly at NUCB.

A Commitment to International Development

This program highlights the Egyptian government's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its public servants and university educators by leveraging Japan’s advanced higher education institutions. NUCB has been recognized for its exceptional contributions to educational quality and program management, marking it as a preferred partner for this initiative.
