Overview of Japan's Logistics Seminar
Japan Planning Institute (JPI) is set to conduct a significant seminar on June 20, 2025, focusing on the comprehensive logistics innovation policies promoted by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. This seminar will feature Hiroyuki Konno, the Director of the Logistics Policy Division at the ministry, who will share crucial insights about the current state of logistics in Japan and the associated challenges.
Understanding the Landscape
Japan's logistics system is a vital social infrastructure, supporting the nation's daily life and economic activities while also contributing to regional revitalization. However, it currently faces numerous challenges, including concerns over stagnation triggered by the so-called "2024 problem" and the need to transition towards carbon neutrality. In response to these issues, the government has recently assembled a "Policy Package for Logistics Innovation" which outlines various initiatives aimed at enhancing logistics processes across multiple sectors and engaging industry stakeholders.
