Primrose Schools®: A Heartfelt Commitment to Community Welfare

In 2024, Primrose Schools®, a leader in early childhood education, has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community welfare by leading charitable efforts that have made a real difference. The institution, along with its network of more than 500 independently owned schools, has raised a staggering $680,000 and contributed over 600,000 items to benefit underserved families and children nationwide.

The Primrose Promise℠

At the heart of Primrose’s philanthropic initiatives is the Primrose Promise℠. This program is a tangible embodiment of the school’s mission to pave the way for a brighter future for children everywhere. It empowers franchise owners, staff, students, and their families to engage actively in charitable giving. Founded on principles of generosity and community, this initiative reflects the proactive spirit of Primrose, illustrating how local engagement can lead to lasting change.

CEO Jo Kirchner remarked, "Year after year, I am inspired by our franchise owners and their students and staff who bring the Primrose mission to life through their remarkable generosity. Together, we are proud to make a difference in local communities while influencing upcoming generations to become empathetic, involved, and enriched individuals."

Highlights of 2024 Contributions

Primrose Schools’ commitment to social responsibility was showcased through several impactful initiatives:

  • - Food Donations: In an effort to combat hunger, the schools collectively donated over 385,000 canned goods and nonperishable food items to food pantries and shelters across the country during their annual Caring and Giving Food Drive. This initiative not only filled the pantries but also sparked conversations about food security among students.

  • - Book Donations: Leading up to Read Across America Day, Primrose hosted the Og's Bountiful Book Drive, resulting in the donation of more than 105,000 books to various local libraries, schools, and children's hospitals. This effort significantly surpassed the previous year’s totals, furthering literacy and education in communities.

  • - In-Kind Donations: The schools provided over 120,000 essential items, including clothing, school supplies, and toys, to families in need, marking a remarkable 500% increase compared to 2023. These contributions were facilitated through organized giving events, underscoring the school’s community-oriented ethos.

Community Engagement in Action

Beyond financial contributions, Primrose Schools engage their students in meaningful service-learning activities, enriching their educational experiences with community involvement:

  • - In Richmond, Virginia, preschool students organized lemonade stands, raising over $3,500 for children battling cancer at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
  • - Schools across several major cities, including Dallas-Fort Worth and Washington D.C., held diaper drives in recognition of National Diaper Need Awareness Week, collectively donating more than 120,000 diapers to those facing crises.

These acts of kindness and leadership not only help in building character development skills but also instill a sense of responsibility and community service among young learners.

Future of Service at Primrose

The Primrose Schools Children’s Foundation, which advocates for quality early education, is a vital entity within this ecosystem. The foundation received over $280,000 from families, funding initiatives to support underserved communities and expand access to quality education. Statistics suggest that parents increasingly prioritize educational foundations, highlighting the significant role of institutions like Primrose in shaping character and academic skills from a young age.

As Primrose Schools continue their philanthropic endeavors into 2025, they remain focused on nurturing not just the intellect but also the hearts of young children, ensuring that the principles of compassion and generosity are instilled at an early age.
