Catholic Charities USA Unveils National Tour for People of Hope Museum to Inspire Community Service

National Tour of the People of Hope Museum: A Celebration of Christian Service

Starting March 26, 2026, the People of Hope Museum will kick off its national tour in New York City, offering an engaging and interactive experience that celebrates the power of community service through storytelling. Spearheaded by Catholic Charities USA, this unique traveling museum aims to visit over 150 communities across the United States over the next three years, fostering empathy and encouraging visitors to take action in serving local populations.

A Journey Rooted in Inspiring Stories

The People of Hope Museum is not just an exhibition; it is a moving gallery housed in a digitally equipped semi-truck. It features 42 authentic video stories narrated by staff and volunteers from various Catholic Charities agencies. These powerful firsthand accounts illustrate the profound impact of neighborly assistance in the lives of individuals experiencing hardship. As Kerry Alys Robinson, President and CEO of CCUSA, stated, “The museum will restore your faith in humanity.”

Interactive Features

Beyond personal testimonies, visitors will encounter a range of interactive experiences:
  • - Poverty Simulation: Step into the shoes of someone facing financial struggles, making tough decisions that reflect the realities of life on the margins.
  • - Learning Library: Explore 2- to 4-minute audio segments from notable books focused on topics like poverty and community action, featuring authors such as Arthur Brooks and Matthew Desmond.
  • - Data Insights: Access national and state statistics that highlight the significant needs of various communities and the essential role of social services in addressing these challenges.
  • - Story Recording Studio: Share your own stories of hope and service, contributing to the ongoing narrative of community support.

The Significance of Community Empowerment

Arthur Brooks emphasized the museum's role in illustrating how happiness sprouts from collective effort, asserting, “When we invest in our neighbors... we create meaning.” This philosophy underpins the mission of the People of Hope Museum, which seeks not only to highlight the importance of service but also to empower individuals to take meaningful steps toward improving their own communities.

Tour Schedule and Accessibility

The public can visit the People of Hope Museum during its initial two-day stop in New York City, located just north of Union Square on Broadway between 17th and 18th Streets. The museum will operate from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 26 and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on March 27. Following its launch in New York, the museum's tour will cover 21 states from March to December 2026, including destinations from Texas to Ohio and from Maine to Florida. In 2027, it will explore western states and revisit communities in early 2028 that missed the opportunity to participate.
