Silver Week: Holiday Plans and Sound Issues on Video Recordings

Survey Insights

In anticipation of this year's Silver Week, DJI conducted a survey focusing on how people plan to spend the holiday. The survey featured responses from 600 men and women aged 20 to 69 across the country. The results were surprising: over 31% of respondents indicated that they would not have any holiday plans at all during this festive season. The majority of the participants, instead of traveling, expressed intentions to spend their time at home.

Holiday Plans by Age Group

When asked about their plans, the survey revealed that the primary response across all age groups was “no specific plans” or “staying home.” This indicates a noticeable trend where many are opting against long-distance travel this year.

Breaking it down by age:
  • - 20s: Highlighting a split between those keen to travel domestically and internationally and those without any plans.
  • - 30s and 40s: These age groups are more family-oriented, primarily engaging with local activities like shopping.
  • - 50s and above: A significant number prefer to stay at home, indicating a desire for a more relaxed pace during their leisure time.

Quality Time and Companions

The survey made it clear who individuals would spend this holiday with. The response of spending time with a significant other (31.0%) was the most common, followed by those indicating they would spend it alone (21.2%). The dynamic changes with age:
  • - 20s: Half of this group remains undecided about their plans.
  • - 30s and 40s: Family time, particularly with children and parents, is prevalent. Notably, 28.3% of those in their 40s plan to spend it alone, indicating a mix of family and personal time.
  • - 50s and above: A significant increase in couples spending the holiday together, with nearly half of those in their 60s opting for this choice.

Sound Issues in Video Recordings

In addition to surveying holiday plans, the subject of video recording also came into play. Despite a low percentage (6%) of respondents planning to film during this holiday, there was a notable 20.2% who indicated they might consider it depending on the situation.

However, a concerning trend emerged: over 30.2% of individuals reported having faced sound troubles with past videos they shot. Common complaints included low volume (15.2%), excessive wind noise (12.5%), and surrounding noise obscuring speech (11.2%). These issues highlight a significant problem of
