Fruit Attraction 2025: A Global Horticultural Phenomenon
MADRID, October 20, 2025 — The 17th edition of Fruit Attraction, orchestrated by IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX, came to a triumphant close with unprecedented participation numbers. This year's event welcomed an impressive 121,137 trade professionals from 152 countries. This represents a 3% increase in attendees and a notable 5% rise in international participation compared to the prior edition.
The statistics reveal that nearly half, 49%, of all attendees hailed from overseas, marking yet another significant progression in the trade fair's global and professional stature. Spanish regions such as Andalusia, Valencia, Murcia, and Catalonia were at the forefront of representation, while international visitors made their way from various corners of the globe, including Italy, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Peru, Chile, Brazil, and South Africa.
Fruit Attraction continues to break records on multiple fronts. This year, there were 2,485 exhibiting companies from 64 different countries showcasing their innovations across an expansive 78,212 net square meters of exhibition space. This translates to an 11% increase in area and a substantial 13% hike in the number of exhibitors from the previous year.
A focal point of the event was the
International Buyers Programme, designed in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, ICEX, and FEPEX. This initiative attracted 600 key buyers, including retail managers and wholesalers from 58 nations, thereby enhancing Madrid's status as a pivotal hub for international trade.
The technical sessions and congress structured throughout the fair were pivotal, drawing over 3,200 attendees across 95 presentations. Topics spanned critical areas such as innovation, sustainability, logistics, and advancements in fruit and vegetable technologies. A highlight of the event was the recognition given to the tomato, celebrated as the 'Star Product' for its culinary, nutritional, and cultural richness, alongside its symbolic importance in promoting sustainability within Spanish horticultural practices.
Furthermore, the event played host to various industry gatherings, including discussions led by the Joint Fruit and Vegetable Committee from France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. This meeting involved representatives from growers' and traders' associations as well as government officials, focusing on pressing conclusions and future proposals for product categories such as tomatoes, strawberries, garlic, and other significant fruits.
Innovation was at the forefront of the event with the
Innovation Hub Awards, which recognized outstanding products and services within the industry. Noteworthy winners included IRTA - Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries in the Fresh Produce category, and Edencore in the FV Industry sector. There were also accolades for sustainable practices, won by Pallet Sure.
Moreover, the
Best Stand Awards honored exhibitors who excelled in creativity, design, and sustainability. Notably, BayWa Global Produce was awarded in the Sustainability category, while Fontestad won for Best Design, and BCC - Grupo Cajamar received accolades for the Most Original Stand. The People's Choice Awards, decided by over 6,000 votes, recognized various businesses in categories such as Fresh Produce and Food Logistics.
Additionally, the
XV APAE Journalism Awards and the Fruit Attraction Journalism Award were presented, honoring Fructidor from France this year. The economic impact of the Fruit Attraction 2025 event was remarkable, estimating a benefits turnover of around 407 million euros, while also maintaining 3,066 jobs and underscoring Fruit Attraction and IFEMA MADRID's status as essential economic and social contributors within the region.
