Embracing a Green Future: The Collaboration of 100% Doraemon & Friends in Tokyo
As Tokyo strives for a sustainable urban environment with its green initiative,
Tokyo Green Biz, a remarkable project aimed at preserving natural resources for the next century is in full swing. This includes creating a
Tokyo Green Biz Map to highlight spots rich in greenery, introducing innovative green infrastructures, and engaging citizens and businesses alike in the promotion of urban nature.
In this spirit of sustainability, an exciting event titled
100% Doraemon & Friends in Tokyo will take place from
March 27, 2026, through September 30, 2026. This initiative, primarily organized by the
100% Doraemon & Friends Production Committee, aims to enliven the Tokyo waterfront area while expanding the outreach of the Tokyo Green Biz project. Attendees are encouraged to reflect on preserving the city’s greenery as they engage with the event’s vibrant offerings.
Overview of the Event
1. What is “TOKYO GREEN BIZ × 100% Doraemon & Friends”?
The event will allow visitors to explore the
Symbol Promenade Park, an area that stands as a natural oasis in the bustling city of Tokyo. It features an outdoor zone filled with diverse interactions that prompt conversations about nature and the importance of greenery for the future of the metropolis.
Among the highlights are:
- - An AR Stamp Rally, where participants will explore the park while learning about nature through augmented reality interactions with Doraemon and plant life.
- - A visually captivating Blue Carpet, where characters from the beloved Doraemon universe will showcase stunning appearances with unique floral arrangements that change seasonally.
- - A colossal Doraemon Balloon standing 12 meters tall, welcoming guests into a space adorned with characters from manga and anime that resonate with nostalgia.
2. Concept and Story
Doraemon, the iconic robot cat from the 22nd century, travels back in time to assist
Nobita Nobi, a schoolboy struggling with academics and sports, to change his future. In today's fast-paced 21st century, we face severe environmental challenges, which if left unchecked, could lead to dire consequences for the future generations inhabiting the 22nd century. Doraemon’s gadgets, like the
“Heart Soil” and
“Fanta Glass,” interact with nature in ways that inspire young visitors to connect with the environment. Visitors will be urged to listen to plant voices and consider how their actions today will shape a greener tomorrow. The goal is to instill a conservation mindset to nurture the lush surroundings of the park and beyond.
3. Featured Experiences
Let’s take a closer look at some of the offerings:
- - Doraemon and Green AR Walk
The event features an engaging AR stamp rally that uses smartphones to read QR codes scattered throughout the park. When scanned, participants will see Doraemon, complete with his gadget glasses, sharing an interactive dialogue about the importance of plants. It not only provides a fun experience for families but also encourages an appreciation of plants through engaging activities.
- - The 100% Blue Carpet Experience
The Blue Carpet, reminiscent of prestigious film festivals, will welcome attendees with its unique floral decorations, which transform over the seasons. In March, the stunning
Nemophila flowers will brighten the venue, complementing Doraemon’s signature blue color.
Featuring the largest Doraemon balloon ever seen, this area will also showcase life-sized versions of popular characters in outfits from the movies and anime. This visually breathtaking display is a must-visit for anyone wanting to capture memorable photographs while contemplating the importance of nature and sustainability.
This event marks a pivotal step for Tokyo towards a greener city and aims to inspire young minds. We invite everyone to participate, reflect, and take action towards nurturing and protecting our environment. Join us at
Symbol Promenade Park and let’s embark on this journey towards a sustainable future together!
