SINEXCEL's 1725 kW Energy Storage System Powers a Revolutionary Project in China

SINEXCEL Powers Up the Energy Storage Revolution in Sichuan

In a significant breakthrough for industrial energy management, SINEXCEL has successfully completed the implementation of a state-of-the-art battery energy storage system (BESS) in Guangyuan, Sichuan province, China. The system boasts an impressive capacity of 107.12 MW/428.48 MWh and is driven by a PCS (Power Conversion System) rated at 1725 kW. This project marks a pivotal moment for the commercial and industrial energy storage landscape in the country.

Addressing Industrial Energy Challenges

The production of primary aluminum is known to be highly energy-intensive, with energy consumption typically ranging between 13-15 MWh per ton. Remarkably, electricity costs can account for up to 40% of the total production expenses. Moreover, unexpected power outages can lead to substantial financial losses, potentially reaching into the millions of yuan due to the freezing of electrolytes. Consequently, there is a dire need for reliable PCS technology to mitigate these risks.

The newly implemented BESS directly addresses these pressing challenges. By storing inexpensive energy during off-peak hours and discharging it during peak demand, this solution allows Zhongfu Industrial, the aluminum manufacturer, to save approximately 140 yuan per ton of aluminum produced. The annual savings are anticipated to exceed 60 million yuan, while simultaneously reducing annual carbon emissions by approximately 52,000 tons.

Proven Technology for Harsh Conditions

Central to this innovative project are 104 units of SINEXCEL's PCS, each rated at 1725 kW, interconnected through an efficient architecture with direct current (DC) links to 5 MWh battery containers. Designed to operate at limited power levels to maximize longevity, these units are tailored to withstand the demanding conditions of industrial facilities.

Fast Response Times

With a rapid response time measured in milliseconds, the SINEXCEL PCS ensures seamless backup power supply during grid outages, thereby preventing costly production interruptions.

Exceptional Efficiency

The system boasts a remarkable operational efficiency rate of 98.5%, providing substantial long-term energy savings for its users.

Robust Stability

With an IP54 rating, the equipment is well-protected against the dusty environments typical of smelters, thwarting accelerated aging processes common in conventional systems. The 1725 kW PCS is fully certified under CE, VDE 4110/4120, and EN 50549 standards for the European market, as well as meeting compliance requirements for grid connection in the United States, Australia, Japan, and Thailand. Across the globe, SINEXCEL's installation volume now exceeds 1 GW.

A Model for Industrial Green Transformation

From powering the largest wind-energy integration project in Latvia to now delivering this crucial installation for commercial and industrial purposes, the 1725 kW PCS has proven its versatility. With operations in over 60 countries and an installed capacity surpassing 17 GW/50 GWh, SINEXCEL continues to deliver profitable and high-performance solutions for energy and industrial scale projects worldwide.
