HUAWEI WATCH D3 Launches at ISH-ECS 2026 Integrating Advanced Blood Pressure Monitoring

HUAWEI WATCH D3 Launches at ISH-ECS 2026

From October 22 to 25, 2026, Dubai hosted the 31st Scientific Congress of the International Society of Hypertension and the 17th Annual Conference of the Emirates Cardiac Society. The event gathered global organizations and leading experts to discuss the latest findings and advancements in the prevention and management of hypertension, a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases.

A significant highlight of the congress was the launch of the HUAWEI WATCH D3, a smartwatch featuring sophisticated blood pressure monitoring capabilities. This device utilizes portable technologies to facilitate the day-to-day tracking of blood pressure in various scenarios. Attendees had the opportunity to experience firsthand the medical-grade capabilities of this device, emphasizing its potential to enhance the accessibility of blood pressure monitoring for everyday use.

Innovative Research Fund for Blood Pressure Monitoring Technology

Recognizing hypertension as one of the most common chronic conditions worldwide, Huawei has established an innovation fund in collaboration with the International Society of Hypertension (ISH). This fund focuses on advancing research in wearable blood pressure monitoring technologies, covering two key areas: measurement and management. It aims to encourage innovation and explore new applications of wearables, fostering developments in hypertension prevention and management across the globe.

During the conference, researchers heading the top three projects selected for funding presented their work. These projects included contributions from institutions like the University of Colombo (Sri Lanka), the University of Edinburgh (UK), Peking University People’s Hospital (China), and the University of Cambridge (UK). Funding will support ongoing research on blood pressure management utilizing the HUAWEI WATCH series.

The Evolving Landscape of Wearable Blood Pressure Monitors

As wearable health technologies continue to evolve, wrist-mounted blood pressure monitors incorporating inflatable bags and oscillometric measurement techniques are gaining traction within the medical community. Such devices have been referenced in various international guidelines and consensus statements, including the European Society of Hypertension's consensus on oscillometric wrist monitors. These highlight the potential of validated wrist oscillometric devices in autonomously monitoring blood pressure. Experts at the conference emphasized the importance of these developments for future clinical applications.

In China, the 2024 guidelines for hypertension prevention and management have newly included oscillometric wrist monitoring, acknowledging the role wearables can play in blood pressure management. This marks an increasing global recognition of wearables in healthcare.

Insights from Experts on HUAWEI WATCH D3

During the sessions dedicated to Huawei's innovative wearable technologies, experts showcased the applications and technologies comprised within the HUAWEI WATCH D3, which aims for a comprehensive health management approach. Various hypertension specialists shared their views on how this smartwatch could enhance accessibility to blood pressure monitoring solutions.

Professor Wang Jiguang, President of the Chinese Hypertension Association, noted, "Innovations like minimally disruptive blood pressure monitoring and health reminder features of the HUAWEI WATCH D3 can inspire researchers and pave the way for the future of automated blood pressure management, integrating seamlessly into daily routines."

Professor George Stergiou, President of the International Society of Hypertension, termed the HUAWEI WATCH D3 as an innovative and reliable wearable device providing insights into blood pressure trends and profiles. Additionally, he emphasized the need for further research to boost the clinical implementation of validated wrist monitors.

A New Era of Health Monitoring with HUAWEI WATCH D3

Gong Yuansong, Vice President of Huawei’s connected wearable devices and health products, highlighted a transformative shift in personal health approaches, moving beyond mere treatment to incorporate proactive monitoring and prevention strategies. The management of blood pressure is evolving to become an integral part of daily health routines rather than occasional hospital visits.

With features like an ultra-narrow oscillometric measurement technology, the HUAWEI WATCH D3 not only measures blood pressure but introduces a new exercise mode to assess blood pressure changes pre- and post-physical activity. This functionality is the first of its kind to receive EU CE certification as a medical device and has been registered in China as a Class II medical device.

Moreover, Huawei has partnered with Ruijin Hospital, affiliated with Jiao Tong University, to embark on a study concerning minimally disruptive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. This research, set to expand into countries like Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, aims at innovating hybrid measurement approaches combining continuous photoplethysmography monitoring with precise oscillometric data using inflatable bags to minimize necessary interventions.

The insights offered by users will provide a detailed view of their blood pressure profiles, contributing to a deeper understanding of their health over 24 hours.

As the ISH-ECS 2026 congress demonstrated, such advancements like the HUAWEI WATCH D3 can revolutionize how individuals manage their blood pressure, extending advanced health monitoring capabilities beyond clinical settings and integrating them into everyday life. This empowers individuals to take a proactive role in their health management and supports a healthier future.
