NVISION Latino Film and Music Festival Relocates to Miami for 2025 Edition

NVISION Latino Film and Music Festival Moves to Miami in 2025

In a bold and exciting development for the Latino artistic community, the NVISION Latino Film and Music Festival is set to relocate to Miami for its 11th edition, scheduled from September 5 to 7, 2025. After a decade of thriving in New York and Palm Springs, this festival has established itself as a vital platform for showcasing the richness and diversity of Latino voices in both film and music.

Founded in 2015 by Danny Hastings, the festival has transformed into a beacon of empowerment and creativity for Latino filmmakers and musicians. It began as a response to the significant underrepresentation of Latinos in Hollywood, but over the years, it has grown to include a vibrant community of artists dedicated to uplifting one another. In 2024, over 60 percent of the films submitted were directed by women, underscoring the festival's commitment to inclusivity.

The decision to move to Miami reflects the city’s status as a cultural epicenter with a diverse Latino population that enriches the arts scene. Hastings expressed, "Miami is where the pulse of Latino creativity thrives; every street corner tells a story." This relocation is seen not just as a logistical change but a cultural reaffirmation of the festival's goal to amplify Latino narratives on a broader scale.

Miami's vibrant backdrop is expected to enhance the festival's offerings, which will feature a dynamic selection of film screenings and live performances. The festival aims to celebrate the achievements of Latino creatives, providing them with a platform to share their stories with the world. The upcoming festival promises an engaging lineup that includes feature-length films, short films, and various panels that reflect diverse cultures and viewpoints.

The 2024 edition set a high standard with four feature films, 60 short films, and nine informative panels, showcasing talent from various countries, including the United States, Latin America, and Spain. Awards were given to notable projects, emphasizing the festival's dedication to highlighting emerging voices and established talents alike; for instance, Ponyboi, directed by Esteban Arango, won Best U.S. Feature, while Boca Chica, directed by Gabriella Moses, took home the Best International Feature award.

In partnership with NEON16, a powerhouse in music and film production, NVISION's influence is expected to reach new heights. NEON16, founded by industry leaders Lex Borrero, Tommy Mottola, and Tainy, focuses on amplifying Latino talent and storytelling. As Borrero articulated, "This festival has transformed the industry, and in Miami, we're taking it to new heights, creating even greater opportunities for our community to be seen, heard, and celebrated."

As we look forward to the 2025 NVISION Latino Film and Music Festival, submissions for U.S. and international short films are now open. Categories include Drama, Sci-Fi, Documentary, and more, with several cash prizes for winning entries. The festival's submission timeline commenced on March 10, 2025, and entries must be submitted by the official deadline of April 21, 2025.
