The Unity Moon Edition: A Beautiful Connection Between Earth and Space
Auguste Reymond, a renowned independent Swiss watchmaker, is set to unveil its latest masterpiece, the
Unity Moon Edition, for the first time in Japan. The unveiling will take place during the prestigious independent watch exhibition
Time United Tokyo 2026, scheduled for May 22, 2026, in the Onarimon district of Tokyo. This state-of-the-art timepiece is not just a watch; it is a tribute to humanity's journey into the cosmos, intertwining the realms of timekeeping and celestial exploration.
A Timeless Legacy
Founded in 1898 in the picturesque Swiss mountain town of Tramelan, Auguste Reymond has been dedicated to capturing the essence of time under the vast starry skies. The
Unity Moon Edition embodies this rich heritage, reflecting the inseparable relationship between celestial mechanics and the precision of horology. The brand's commitment to innovation and artistry culminates in this latest creation, designed for those who appreciate not only the craft of watchmaking but also the profound connection to the universe.
A Closer Look at the Dial
At the heart of the
Unity Moon Edition is its striking dial, masterfully crafted from multilayer brass with high-precision stamping techniques. This innovative design recreates the lunar surface of
Mare Tranquillitatis, where humanity first left its footprints on the moon. Each crater is imbued with shadows and depth, providing an experience akin to gazing directly at the moon. With every glance at the watch, one cannot help but be transported to the awe-inspiring vastness of space.
Architectural Innovation: Unity Case
The case of the
Unity Moon Edition features Auguste Reymond's proprietary modular structure, composed of four independent parts. Two crescent-shaped lugs, secured with screws, create a stunning interplay of brushed and polished finishes, exhibiting an exquisite contrast. The bezel is held in place by hexagonal screws finished with 5N rose gold PVD, while the crown is intricately designed with alternating brushed and sandblasted textures, complete with the embossed AR logo atop.
The watch hands are inspired by a compass, showcasing a sharp silhouette that is highly readable even in low-light conditions, thanks to the
Super-LumiNova® coating. As the open-worked seconds hand rotates, the maison's logo and the infinity symbol appear, subtly reflecting a philosophical theme of the cyclical nature of time.
Original Automatic Movement: Caliber AR 200-1
Visible through a sapphire crystal case back is the Swiss-made automatic caliber
AR 200-1. This movement boasts a power reserve of 42 hours and features an open-worked rotor engraved with lunar motifs and the maison's logo. The date display is conveniently located at the 6 o'clock position, expertly balancing functionality with artistic elegance—a hallmark of the Auguste Reymond lineage.
“By engraving the relief of Mare Tranquillitatis onto the dial, we aimed to create a meaningful connection between personal time and humanity's greatest quests.”
— Philip W.A. Klingenberg, CEO, Maison Auguste Reymond
