Kashioto Toshio Memorial Museum: Summer Exhibition for Kids
The Kashioto Toshio Memorial Museum, operated by the Kashioto Toshio Memorial Foundation, is hosting a special summer exhibition titled "Mystery Solving Adventure" from July 24 (Thursday) to August 6 (Wednesday). This initiative is designed specifically for elementary school students, offering them a fun and educational experience during summer vacation. The exhibition also includes various hands-on events that allow children to learn while enjoying science and art.
The museum honors Kashioto Toshio, one of the founders of Casio Computer, who is renowned for inventions including the world’s first compact electronic calculator, the 14-A. The museum aims to keep his spirit of invention alive while educating future generations.
Fun Activities and Challenges
Every summer, the museum organizes an engaging exhibition for elementary school students. Building on the success of previous years, the "Mystery Solving Adventure" will guide visitors through solving puzzles related to the museum and Kashioto Toshio's life. Successfully answering five or more questions will give participants a chance to win a special prize from a gacha lottery game.
Additionally, this year, the museum will feature six different hands-on experience events that blend learning with entertainment. The popular "Calculator Disassembly and Assembly Workshop" has been expanded to two days due to high demand. The activities include:
- - Calculation Exploration: This event allows children to have fun calculating everyday activities with a calculator, gaining a fresh perspective on various matters through numbers.
- - Calculator Disassembly and Assembly Workshop: Participants will learn about the inner workings of calculators by disassembling and reassembling them, while also experiencing some magic tricks involving calculators.
- - Clock Disassembly and Assembly Workshop: Young inventors will explore the mechanisms of wristwatches, with adult assistance encouraged for the intricate tasks involved.
- - Song Composition Workshop: Using the smartphone app "Chordana Composer," kids can create their own original songs without any prior composition knowledge, and receive CDs with their works at the end.
- - Piano Painting: Children will play the piano to create paintings, using music as inspiration to produce unique artwork they can take home.
- - Inventor Workshop: This final workshop will teach children how to brainstorm unique clock designs based on the story of the development of the famous "G-SHOCK" watch.
These experience events and the exhibition are free for elementary students accompanied by an adult. Reservations will open on July 8 (Tuesday) through the museum's website, on a first-come, first-served basis.
