Segway and Whoosh Join Forces for Free Rides in Mexico During 2026 World Cup

Free Ride Campaign in Mexico for World Cup 2026

Segway Commercial, a renowned leader in shared micromobility solutions, has announced an exciting initiative in collaboration with Whoosh, a key player in shared mobility. Together, they have launched a campaign to offer free rides across Mexico during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This initiative aims to simplify transportation for fans, residents, and visitors in major host cities during this global sporting event.

The campaign made its debut in Mexico City on June 10 and will extend into Monterrey over the subsequent weeks, aiming to cover significant urban mobility hubs in Mexico until July 5. By partnering, Segway and Whoosh plan to sponsor thousands of rides to enhance accessibility during the tournament. Users can claim a complimentary ride through the respective apps by entering the promotional code RIDEWITHSEGWAY. Each free journey includes unlocking the scooter and allows usage for up to 20 minutes, subject to daily availability and offered in limited quantities.

This initiative resonates with the increasing importance of shared micromobility in addressing urban transportation needs during major international events. Shared mobility networks are becoming pivotal in transportation planning, particularly for enhancing last-mile connectivity during high-demand travel periods.

In light of the expected surge in demand and high parking costs during the World Cup, this free ride initiative serves to provide seamless mobility for fans, completely eliminating parking fees and demonstrating that micromobility options are increasingly crucial to modern urban transport, especially for large events.

Sebastien Declety, Director of Whoosh Mexico, stated, "At Whoosh, we believe that shared micromobility is essential for creating more connected, efficient, and sustainable cities. Our partnership with Segway Commercial strengthens this vision by merging reliable technology with operational expertise to offer practical options for short-distance travel, particularly during significant events like World Cup matches. Through initiatives like free rides, we aim to enhance the urban mobility experience and complement already available transportation options in the city."

Zack Yan, Deputy General Manager of Segway's Mobility Commercial Division, pointed out, "The World Cup presents a unique opportunity to showcase how shared micromobility can help cities meet the dynamic transportation demands during large events. Our collaboration with Whoosh signifies a shared commitment to providing accessible, efficient, and sustainable transportation solutions that enhance everyday urban mobility experiences."

As the tournament progresses to its most thrilling stages, Segway and Whoosh remain dedicated to facilitating mobility in host cities, ensuring that both fans and residents can navigate freely and comfortably, whether for the finals or their daily commutes. Furthermore, this collaboration promises to set a precedent for providing accessible and sustainable transportation solutions that cities can rely on long after the final whistle has blown.
