Celebrating 20 Years of Platinum: A New Approach to Food Waste



As Platinum Inc. marks its 20th anniversary, it is taking a significant step forward to address one of society's pressing issues: food waste. The company is proud to announce its collaboration with the Ai no Shokutaku organization to support the Kanshoku Project—Japan's first initiative focused on redistributing prepared meals to those in need.

The Kanshoku Project aims to tackle food waste generated from corporate activities such as employee cafeterias and hotel buffets by providing excess meals free of charge to individuals who require them. Since its inception, the project has successfully contributed to reducing approximately 200 kg of food waste.

In aligning with its mission to leverage public relations and creative strategies for societal benefit, Platinum has supported numerous aspects of the Kanshoku Project, including the development of its branding, website, and promotional materials. A press event was held at the end of April, allowing media representatives to witness the project's impact first-hand.

Expanding Reach and Seeking Collaboration


The Kanshoku Project plans to extend its services to temples, churches, and non-profit organizations in Tokyo. The project is actively seeking participants and collaborators, including meal providers, distribution locations, and volunteers. Employees of Platinum also have the opportunity to engage directly with the initiative, fostering connections with the community and staying attuned to the perspectives of everyday people.

“Our goal is to create a framework that not only reduces food waste but also simultaneously supports those in need,” expressed Saori Yoshiyuki, CEO of Platinum. “Through the Kanshoku Project, we aim to transform the critical issue of food waste into a new value of happiness through shared meals.”

Understanding the Kanshoku Project


The Kanshoku Project is Japan's pioneering food waste reduction initiative that redistributes prepared meals. It aims to deliver surplus, still-edible food generated through corporate operations to individuals in need. Launched in February 2025, the project was established in partnership with AGBIOTECH Inc., which focuses on environmentally sustainable agricultural practices that align with climate change solutions. The project has been fortified by the contributions of volunteer franchise partners through a careful series of operational trials, generating a swift and safe delivery system for necessary food items.

Meal Redistribution Process


1. Collection of surplus food from employee cafeterias and hotel buffets, including meals that are still safe to eat but have no recipients.
2. Safe transportation of meals to designated locations through a proprietary system.
3. Partnership with NGOs and NPOs to distribute collected food to individuals in need, supported by volunteers.
