Special Class on War Memory: August 16

On August 16, the festival will feature a special class titled "Understanding War: A Live Session from the Chiran Tokkou Peace Museum". This event is designed to impart the memories of war to children, emphasizing the importance of peace. The session will be led by Mr. Satoshi Yamaki, curator of the Chiran Tokkou Peace Museum, situated at the site of the former Chiran Airfield from which kamikaze pilots launched during World War II.

As 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 100th year of the Showa era, it is crucial to convey the experiences and tragedies of those who lived through this time to younger generations. In previous classes, around 500 participants, including children and their parents, engaged in meaningful discussions about war and peace, leading to impactful reflections.

  • - Hosts: Chiran Tokkou Peace Museum & Kids Weekend Corporation
