October 2025 EC Site Speed Ranking

In a significant revelation for the e-commerce sector, Gaprise, a digital business support SaaS firm based in Japan, has announced its findings on the latest website speed ranking for October 2025. This report sheds light on the speed efficiencies of the top 272 online shopping sites in Japan, helping these companies improve their site performances for enhanced customer experiences.

Overview of the Research

  • - Research Period: Data was collected in October 2025.
  • - Organization: The research was conducted by Gaprise itself.
  • - Subjects: The study targeted over 300 companies ranked by Tsuhan Shimbun based on sales, particularly focusing on those with a monthly traffic exceeding 100,000 in Japan.
  • - Methodology: The analysis utilized Google’s Chrome User Experience Report dataset. It compared LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) metrics for each website on mobile, specifically targeting 4G networks.

Understanding LCP

LCP is a crucial web performance metric defined by Google as part of its Core Web Vitals. It measures the time taken for the largest visible portion of a webpage to appear after the user opens it. A lower LCP usually indicates that the main content of the page is rendered quickly, affording users a better experience. According to Google's standards, achieving an LCP score under 2.5 seconds ensures a positive user experience, whereas any score above 4 seconds is considered unsatisfactory. Notably, improvements can push LCP below the threshold of 1 second, as demonstrated by Renault's case study.

Key Findings of the Ranking (Top 10)

The survey highlights that all top 10 websites achieved an LCP of less than 1.2 seconds. Among these, Murauchi.com, AmiAmi Online Shop, and BAYCREW'S STORE have successfully broken the 1.0-second barrier, exemplifying optimal site performance concerning speed.

Across the 272 evaluated sites, approximately 74.6% (203 sites) achieved an LCP of under 2.5 seconds. This indicates a significant recognition among e-commerce sites regarding the critical nature of page loading speeds and the commitment to actively enhancing their user interfaces.

The median LCP across the surveyed websites was about 2.02 seconds, while the average was approximately 2.13 seconds. While numerous top e-commerce sites meet Google's recommended threshold, very few manage to maintain a
