Patrick Mullane Appointed as New President and CEO of the Center for Creative Leadership

Patrick Mullane Takes the Helm at CCL

The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) has announced the appointment of Patrick Mullane as its new president and CEO. He succeeds Martin Schneider, who retired in August 2026 after nearly four years at the organization’s forefront.

Patrick brings almost 11 years of experience from Harvard Business School, where he was the executive director of Executive Education Online. His leadership at Harvard witnessed significant growth and expansion of online programs and non-degree courses, thus establishing a robust platform for executive learning. Prior to his tenure at Harvard, Mullane served as an officer in the United States Air Force, and he possesses a background as a high-level operations executive and entrepreneur.

"Quality leadership is one of the most scarce and valuable resources in the world," Mullane stated. "This belief is one of the reasons that attracted me to CCL. Leadership has the power to shape culture, drive performance, and maintain stability during turbulent times. CCL collaborates with organizations around the globe to foster that kind of leadership."

Peter Richardson, chairman of the CCL Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm about Mullane’s appointment, emphasizing his strategic vision and experience in leadership development. "Patrick blends strategic vision, deep executive education expertise, and a genuine passion for developing leaders who make a difference. He is well-prepared and eager to engage with our teams and clients to strengthen CCL's legacy and propel our mission forward."

Mullane steps into this role at a crucial moment when rapid technological advancements and the growing complexity of global markets are reshaping what organizations expect from their leaders. CCL has been investing thoughtfully to meet these emerging needs. Recently, they introduced "Succession Reimagined," a research-based program focused on executive succession planning, alongside My Studio™, a workspace designed for leadership development powered by artificial intelligence, integrated into CCL Passport™, which enables learning and development teams to quickly create and assess customized programs.

"Leadership has never been more critical, and CCL has a remarkable opportunity to help more leaders navigate disruption and practice effective leadership in an ever-changing world," Mullane remarked. "I am excited to leverage nearly 60 years of top-tier research and work alongside our teams and clients to expand CCL's reach."

Mullane holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame, a Master’s in Project Management and Systems from Golden Gate University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He will be relocating from Boston to Greensboro, North Carolina, where he will be based at CCL’s headquarters.

At the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), they believe that the most powerful asset of any organization is its people. They collaborate with organizations globally to develop leaders and the surrounding leadership ecosystems, utilizing their nearly 60 years of experience and research to transform leadership potential into measurable performance advantages. CCL designs and delivers tailored leadership solutions, open-enrollment programs, coaching services, assessments, and subscriptions for organizational leadership development for clients across North America, Europe, India, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
