Center for Creative Leadership Appoints Patrick Mullane as New CEO to Drive Future Growth
The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) is embarking on a new chapter with the appointment of Patrick Mullane as its President and Chief Executive Officer. This transition comes after Martin Schneider's retirement in August 2026, marking nearly four years of leadership during a transformative period for the organization.
Mullane is stepping into this role with a rich background, having spent nearly 11 years at Harvard Business School, where he served as the Executive Director for Online Learning and Leadership Development Programs. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in expanding online course offerings and developing non-degree educational programs aimed at enhancing leadership skills.
Before his tenure at Harvard, Mullane served in the United States Air Force and worked as an entrepreneur and senior executive responsible for operational management. His diverse experience is expected to contribute significantly to CCL's mission of nurturing high-quality leadership globally. "I believe that high-quality leadership is one of the most valuable yet scarce resources in the world," Mullane stated, highlighting his strategic vision for the organization.
Mullane’s appointment takes place at a crucial time when rapid technological advancements and the complexity of global economic and geopolitical situations are reshaping the expectations organizations have for their leaders. CCL is committed to investing in solutions that directly address these evolving challenges. Among the initiatives recently launched under CCL’s umbrella are "Succession Reimagined," a research-based program dedicated to succession planning for senior leadership, and My Studio™, an AI-enhanced workspace designed to foster leadership competencies. This tool, available through the CCL Passport™ platform, empowers Learning and Development (LD) teams to create and evaluate tailored training programs efficiently.
"Leadership has never been more critical than it is today, and CCL has a unique opportunity to empower more leaders to navigate rapid changes and effectively guide their teams in an evolving landscape," Mullane affirmed. He is eager to leverage the nearly 60 years of world-class research and collaborate with CCL's teams and clients to expand the organization's reach.
Mullane earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Science in Project Management and Systems from Golden Gate University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He will be relocating from Boston to Greensboro, North Carolina, where CCL’s global headquarters is located.
