Avalon Park Group's Vision for a New Regional Park

In a move aimed at enriching the recreational landscape of East Orange County, Avalon Park Group has announced plans to open a stunning 250-acre regional park by 2027. This ambitious project seeks to serve local families and provide a host of facilities that will cater to various sports and community activities for generations to come.

For the past 25 years, this locality has transformed into one of Central Florida's success stories, with families establishing roots and businesses thriving. A Unified Community Effort

Beat Kahli, the founder and CEO of Avalon Park Group, stressed that the community's past successes, including prestigious schools, were built through collaboration and teamwork. He believes the same model can lead to the creation of this much-needed park.

The plan integrates various sports facilities, including soccer, football, volleyball, cricket, and baseball fields, while also incorporating hiking trails, playgrounds, wellness areas, and community gathering spaces—all designed to foster family engagement and social bonding.

Interestingly, this venture will not rely on public financing typical of similar projects. Kahli assured that no funds from the Tourist Development Tax or local taxpayers would be solicited to finance the park. Instead, the project will draw upon the robust financial framework of Avalon Park Group’s diversified portfolio and the $20 million paid in property taxes annually by Avalon Park Orlando.

Kahli expressed, “For too long, promises have been made about regional parks, but they have dwindled into mere plans. It's high time we implement a different approach, and Avalon Park Group is poised to spearhead this vision.”

Gathering Community Input

The ultimate design and purpose of this park will be shaped by the residents who will utilize it. Input from local residents, sports organizations, schools, homeowner associations, businesses, and civic leaders will be gathered through surveys and community meetings, ensuring that the park reflects the urgent needs of the community.

As East Orange County continues to welcome thousands of new residents each year, existing recreational infrastructures have not matched the pace of growth. Families frequently travel across Central Florida to access sports facilities, underscoring the critical demand for a local park with quality amenities.

Dave Weiser, CEO of the East Orlando Knights Soccer Club, noted, “Parents currently spend countless hours commuting to provide their children with quality sports facilities. A regional park would not only provide close access to recreational activities but would also strengthen community ties.”

The realization of this park holds significance that surpasses just sports. Brenda Kolbrich, a community advocate, highlighted that as Avalon Park evolved, the public spaces should grow in tandem.
