The excitement is building for the upcoming 2026 Island Hide and Seek festival, running from October 31st to November 1st. This exhilarating event is co-hosted by the Japan Hide and Seek Association and Job Live Co. and will take place on the picturesque Tsumagashima Island, off the coast of Nagasaki Prefecture. This thrilling experience promises to immerse participants in an intense game of hide and seek, free from societal titles and gender roles, focusing solely on the joy of hiding and seeking.

Event Overview

The festival is designed for those aged 18 and older, with a total of 100 participants expected. The objective is simple: stay hidden for a full two hours to claim victory! The event invites not only students but also seasoned participants, including former Self-Defense Force members, ensuring a splash of diverse talent.

Participation Details

Participants can choose from a 1-night/2-day plan for 24,800 yen, including camping on the island after the hide-and-seek game, or an immersive 2-night/3-day pre-stay plan at 45,800 yen, which starts on October 30th.

Discover Tsumagashima Island

Tsumagashima is not just a location; it’s a hidden gem near Ikik Island that evokes a sense of adventure. Surrounded by crystal-clear waters, it boasts rugged cliffs, serene beaches, and lush areas rich in biodiversity. Although it was inhabited until 2002, traces of the past remain, inviting visitors to discover new aspects of this enchanting isle. Experiencing Tsumagashima is like stepping into another world—a place where beauty and excitement coexist.

The Thrilling Rules of the Game

This event focuses on adult participants. A total of 90 hiders and 10 seekers will take part in this heart-thumping game. Those who are found will switch roles and become seekers themselves. Scoring will be based on various criteria, such as time hidden, the number of seekers successfully evaded, and points for being an active seeker. Participants can enjoy the thrill of deception—camouflaging in grass or digging into the earth, every move counts!

A True Island Experience

After the game, why stop the fun? Participants will enjoy a lavish island BBQ where they can wind down together, celebrating their accomplishments. Additionally, participants will sail rafts made from natural materials as part of a unique escape challenge aboard Tsumagashima, truly immersing everyone in the island’s charm.

The Japan Hide and Seek Association is officially recognized for its organizational role in Japan’s qualification for the Hide and Seek World Championship, where Japan currently ranks 9th. With aspirations to elevate the nation’s game status, they organize various enchanting events like this one to enhance the hide and seek culture.
