Zoomlion Enhances Local Operations in Africa to Support Infrastructure Development
Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. ("Zoomlion") is taking significant steps to enhance its local operations across Africa. This bold move aims to provide improved support for regional infrastructure, agricultural mechanization, and sustained market development.
This initiative aligns with China's expansion of its zero-tariff policy for 53 African nations that maintain diplomatic ties with China, coinciding with the upcoming China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo set to take place in Morocco in 2026. Such developments present a substantial opportunity for Zoomlion to further strengthen its local service networks and deepen cooperation with clients and partners within the African markets.
Recently, Zoomlion inaugurated its subsidiary in Casablanca, Morocco, marking a key milestone in its localization strategy. This local platform is intended to enhance the availability of equipment, spare parts support, and on-site service capabilities while reinforcing Morocco’s role as a central hub for Zoomlion’s operations in North Africa. With this new subsidiary, Zoomlion is positioned to respond more swiftly to customer needs and offer more efficient support for construction, transportation, port, stadium, and energy projects, not only in Morocco but throughout the North African region.
Having ventured into Africa in 2007, Zoomlion stands among the earliest Chinese manufacturers of machinery to penetrate the continent. Over nearly two decades, the company has solidified a broad presence across the region, with a focus on construction, mining, and agriculture machinery as key pillars of its business.
Zoomlion's equipment has significantly contributed to various essential infrastructure and development projects across Africa. Notable examples include Egypt's New Administrative Capital, the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Project in Tanzania, the N'Djamena Stadium in Chad, and the Rosso Bridge connecting Senegal and Mauritania. Additionally, the company continues to grow its footprint in the agricultural machinery sector throughout the continent, addressing local needs for agriculture, mechanization, and after-sales service.
At the 2026 China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Morocco, Zoomlion will showcase its latest flagship products. The company will also host specialized events, such as the China-Africa Seminar on Agricultural Machinery Application and Development, to facilitate the exchange of knowledge concerning intelligent agricultural machinery, precision operations, and remote maintenance.
In 2025, Zoomlion's business in Africa saw robust growth, with a remarkable 157% increase in revenue year-over-year. Moving forward, the company aims to bolster its local operations, expand its service capacity, and collaborate with local partners to further support infrastructure development and regional growth initiatives across Africa. This strategic commitment underscores Zoomlion’s intent to be an integral player in Africa's evolving landscape and its infrastructure ambitions for the future.
