Zoomlion's DV3504 Hybrid Tractor Shortlisted for Two TOTY 2027 Awards
Zoomlion's Groundbreaking Hybrid Tractor: The DV3504
In a significant leap for agricultural machinery, Zoomlion's DV3504 hybrid tractor has garnered attention by being shortlisted in two categories for the esteemed Tractor of the Year (TOTY) 2027 awards: High Power (300 HP or more) and Sustainability. This recognition marks a historic moment as it is the first high-power Chinese tractor to make it to the finals since the inception of the awards in 1998.
A Brief Overview of TOTY Awards
Organized independently by the Italian agricultural machinery publication Trattori, TOTY is among the most distinguished awards in the global agricultural machinery sector. For the 2027 edition, 23 tractors from 18 international brands were in the running, evaluated by a jury of 26 independent agricultural machinery journalists from 25 different countries. The two nominations for the DV3504 highlight not only the tractor's advanced technology but also signify China's growing presence in the global agriculture machinery market.
Highlights of the DV3504
Powered by 350 HP, the DV3504 is specifically designed to meet the demands of large-scale farming operations. It features Zoomlion’s proprietary intelligent distributed electric drive system, MiDD (Meshed intelligent Direct Drive). This system harnesses a multi-motor direct drive architecture, allowing independent power to the tractor's driving, PTO, and hydraulic functions. Consequently, this modular transmission reduces mechanical transmission components by approximately 70%, enhancing overall efficiency.
Unlike pure electric solutions that face challenges regarding durability and continuous high-load operation in heavy agricultural applications, the hybrid technology utilized in the DV3504 strikes an effective balance between extensive range, high power output, and energy efficiency.
Strategic Vision of Zoomlion
Zoomlion’s approach to developing equipment reflects its commitment to hybrid energy and smart technologies in high-end agricultural machinery. The innovative capabilities cultivated in its construction machinery business—integrating new power systems, intelligent control, and advanced manufacturing—are central to its plans to pivot agricultural equipment towards greater performance and sustainability.
Since its debut at AGRITECHNICA 2025 in Hannover, Germany, Zoomlion has made significant strides in expanding its international footprint within the agricultural machinery sector. Evolving from an international exhibitor to a finalist in a prestigious global industry award within just a year illustrates the rapid progress of this company.
What’s Next?
The final winners of the TOTY 2027 awards will be announced at EIMA International in Bologna in November 2026. As the agricultural industry continues to evolve, innovations such as the Zoomlion DV3504 may define the future of farming machinery—merging performance with sustainability to meet the challenges of modern agriculture.
