New Interactive Social Contribution Game Launches in Niigata: PicTrée Challenges Residents with Mirror Photography

New Interactive Social Contribution Game Launching in Niigata

Starting January 9, 2026, the interactive social contribution game PicTrée will officially kick off in Niigata City, Japan. Developed by Digital Entertainment Asset, in partnership with Growth Ring Grid Pte. Ltd. based in Singapore, this initiative invites local citizens to participate in a unique mission: photographing street mirrors within a specified area of the city.

PicTrée has already gained traction in various regions across Eastern Japan, and this new mission will add street mirror photography to its roster of community engagement activities. Future expansions aim to include other vital urban infrastructures, such as roads, playground equipment, and disaster prevention facilities. The project enhances community involvement while promoting local tourism through gamification.

Mission Overview: Niigata City's Mirror Photography

  • - Event Period: January 9 (Friday) 7:15 – January 18 (Sunday) 18:30
  • - Location: A 2km area connecting Niigata Station, Bandai, and Furumachi in downtown Niigata
  • - Access Hours: 7:15 – 18:30
  • - Photography Target: 164 street mirrors

Participants are encouraged to capture five specific images per mirror: the entire mirror, front and back of the mirror, stickers, and the base. Each qualified submission will earn participants reward coins valued at approximately 30 yen per mirror.

How to Participate

To join the challenge, users can follow these steps:
1. Download the PicTrée app.
2. Register email and other details.
3. Access the 'Road Facilities Mission' section on the app's map.
4. Select the 'Mirror Photography Mission in Niigata 2km' option and tap 'Challenge.'

Safety Guidelines

Given that photography will occur mainly in urban settings, users must adhere to important safety measures:
  • - Avoid areas with heavy traffic when taking photos.
  • - Ensure that photos do not capture bystanders.
  • - Respect private property; trespassing is prohibited.
  • - If conditions become unsafe, refrain from taking photos.
  • - The mission may be temporarily halted during extreme weather conditions such as strong winds, heavy rains, or snow.
