Rescue Brew Photo Contest Returns to Support Animal Welfare in North Carolina

Rescue Brew Photo Contest: Supporting Animal Rescue

The communities of Durham, North Carolina are buzzing with excitement as the beloved Rescue Brew photo competition makes its return. Organized by Fullsteam Brewery, RTP Uncorked, and Boxyard RTP, this event aims to both celebrate the charm of rescue pets and raise essential funds for Animal Aid Alliance and other local animal welfare organizations.

A Call for Entries

Launched on April 23, 2025, the contest invites pet lovers to submit photos of their beloved companions, be they cats, dogs, or other assorted creatures. Each submission not only stands a chance to be featured on the cans of Fullsteam's Limited-Edition Rescue Brew 2025 but also in the anticipated 2026 Rescue Brew Calendar. The competition runs until July 10, 2025, allowing ample time for participants to showcase their furry friends.

Creative Recognition

Winners will receive more than just fame; their pets' portraits will be hand-illustrated by talented local artist Echo Lilly Wilson. In addition, the top four finalists in each category will have their pets professionally photographed by Joanne Wetzel from Five Freedoms Photography, turning winning shots into memorable calendar images. The resulting calendars will be available for purchase in October, with proceeds directly benefiting Animal Aid Alliance.

Supporting a Greater Cause

In an effort to maximize this event's impact on animal welfare, Animal Aid Alliance will award substantial grants of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 to the animal rescue organizations whose adopted or foster pets receive the highest number of votes. Even more enticing, a special Rescue Brew Grant will be provided, totaling 10% of all funds raised up to $10,000, offering essential financial support for qualifying organizations through an application process.

Pets that reach 500 votes or more will be highlighted across Animal Aid Alliance's social media platforms and in their August newsletter, providing further visibility to inspiring rescue stories.

Behind the Initiative

Julie Paddison, Co-owner of RTP Uncorked and chair of the Animal Aid Alliance Advisory Committee, shared her thoughts on the event: "Rescue Brew is more than just a fundraiser—it's a celebration of rescue stories." The collaboration between Fullsteam Brewery, RTP Uncorked, and Boxyard RTP not only showcases the joyful bonds between pets and their owners but also highlights the importance of community involvement in supporting animal welfare efforts.
