This year, Pal System Group takes the spotlight as they strive to enhance the working environment for their delivery employees while also contributing to local communities.

Employment Conditions Based on Locality

Pal System Saitama, headquartered in Warabi City, has introduced a unique employment system that allows drivers to choose specific work locations based on their residential areas. This initiative, known as the "Delivery Position Limitation System," was launched in the fiscal year 2021. Since its implementation, Pal System Saitama has successfully hired a total of 50 employees. This system not only promotes convenience for the workers but also helps alleviate commuting pressures, thereby contributing to a better work-life balance.

Similarly, the Pal System Chiba has adopted a "Position-Limited Full-time Employee" system since the same year, resulting in the hiring of 71 individuals. By eliminating the need for relocation due to personnel adjustments, both organizations foster conditions that enhance their employees' well-being and satisfaction, which plays a significant role in reducing employee turnover.

Local Expertise and Community Care

By assigning delivery personnel to specific regions for extended periods, the drivers become deeply familiar with the local situations and can readily detect any anomalies. This commitment to localized delivery not only enhances operational efficiency but also strengthens the infrastructure for community care through co-op deliveries. Furthermore, Pal System Saitama allows new graduates to select between delivery and sales positions, reflecting a flexible employment structure that prioritizes employee preferences.

Adoption of Technology for Ease and Safety

Pal System groups in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba are making significant strides in reducing the physical strains associated with manual handling of goods. Through the introduction of electric handlift power lifters, they aim to ease the burden of loading and unloading items during delivery processes. By 2025, the group plans to deploy a total of 11 units to streamline operations further. These power lifters are designed to assist employees in lifting boxes from the sorting centers, significantly reducing the time taken for goods to be loaded onto delivery trucks.

In fact, with just one full charge, these power lifters can perform about 100 lift cycles, allowing for quick and efficient loading onto various delivery vehicles.

Commitment to Sustainability and Safety

In a progressive move to tackle environmental issues, the Pal System Group has committed to operating 18 electric vehicles (EVs) by October. These vehicles not only support carbon neutrality but also come equipped with advanced safety features that monitor driver well-being by detecting changes in facial expressions. The Pal System Chiba made headway in September with the introduction of their first EV at the Matsudo Center, while Pal System Tokyo rolled out several trucks and light vehicles through October.

With this new fleet, the total number of operational EVs across the cooperative is set to rise to 27, inclusive of both trucks and light delivery vehicles.

Community Surveillance and Monitoring Services

As part of their social responsibility, Pal System has established monitoring agreements with 231 local governments and organizations across 222 municipalities in seven prefectures. In cases of emergencies, delivery drivers are trained to notice and report unusual situations they encounter, thereby facilitating prompt action in conjunction with local authorities.

Moreover, through the "Peace of Mind Service," Pal System provides updates to users and their families regarding delivery statuses, ensuring that loved ones are informed about the wellbeing of individuals at home.
