ISFnet Conducts Comprehensive D&I Awareness Survey for Employees Including IT Infrastructure Engineers

ISFnet's Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

ISFnet, a leading IT infrastructure solutions provider based in Tokyo, conducted a detailed diversity and inclusion (D&I) awareness survey targeting all employees, including IT infrastructure engineers. This initiative is part of their commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable work environment, enabling every employee to feel a sense of belonging and psychological safety.
The survey involved a total of 823 employees from various locations across Japan, focusing particularly on IT engineers, and represents a pioneering move in fostering D&I within Japan's tech sector.

Purpose of the Survey

In recent years, the importance of D&I has escalated within corporate management, emerging as a key element for sustainable organizational growth. A structured environment that allows diverse individuals to work authentically enhances individual engagement, productivity, and innovation across the organization.
ISFnet aims to create a workplace where individuals can discover joy in their work and find their life’s purpose. The survey seeks to visualize employee feedback to bolster D&I initiatives effectively.

Key Findings: Strengths of ISFnet

1. Recognition of D&I Efforts

One significant finding from the survey indicates a positive perception of the company's D&I philosophy among the staff. When asked if the company sincerely engages with diversity, 27.9% emphatically agreed, while 55.5% indicated general agreement. Overall, 83.5% expressed favorable views about the company's incorporation of D&I into everyday operations, suggesting it is not merely a temporary initiative but ingrained in the company’s culture.

2. Acceptance of Diversity from Various Perspectives

Responses to questions regarding workplace diversity reflected a solid acknowledgment of diversity based on gender, sexuality, race, language, cultural background, disabilities, and age. Specifically, 30.3% strongly agreed and 52.2% agreed that the company has diverse members. However, approximately 82.5% of employees feel that diversity is experienced and recognized within the organization.

3. Supporting Mental and Physical Health

The survey unveiled that a significant 74.6% of employees believe their supervisors and colleagues care about their physical and mental wellbeing. This emphasizes a growing culture of mutual support among team members, contributing to a secure working environment.

4. Safe Workplace Environment

When asked about the ease of consulting with supervisors and colleagues, 67.4% responded positively. These metrics indicate a supportive culture where employees feel comfortable reaching out to each other for assistance.

Areas for Improvement

Despite these strengths, the survey also highlighted gaps in areas that pertain to deeper perspectives of psychological safety and the understanding of role models within the company.

1. Sharing Weaknesses

Less than half of the employees, 49.4%, feel comfortable sharing their weaknesses and challenges at work. This gap indicates a potential barrier that needs addressing to enhance open communication and vulnerability within teams.

2. Authentic Community Engagement

A total of 54% of employees felt they could not completely be themselves at work, highlighting the necessity for cultivating a more authentic community within the workplace.

3. Recognition of Role Models

Only 41.4% indicated that they see employees in their workplace serving as effective role models. This underlines the importance of fostering visibility and connection through remote work arrangements.

Future D&I Initiatives

Driven by these insights, ISFnet plans to leverage the survey findings to enhance D&I efforts, creating more inclusive and supportive environments for self-expression among employees. Proposed actions include formulating targeted improvement measures based on survey data, revitalizing internal communities, and implementing systems to recognize role models within the organization.

ISFnet is dedicated to ensuring that every employee feels valued and secure in their workplace, fostering a culture where diversity thrives, and individuals are empowered.
