Special Lectures at Kamogawa Sea World on Animal Care and Conservation

Kamogawa Sea World: Special Lectures on Animal Care and Conservation

Kamogawa Sea World, a key facility of Granvista Hotel & Resort located in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, will host special lectures on April 19, 2026, in celebration of "Keeper Day" and again on May 18, 2026, to mark "International Museum Day." These events are designed to deepen visitors' understanding of the aquatic life and conservation efforts.

Keeper Day Lectures

the significance of "Keeper Day", established in 2009 by the Japan Zoo and Aquarium Association, is derived from the date, April 19, which phonetically resembles the word "shiku" (飼育), meaning "keeping" in Japanese. Throughout Japan, various facilities will host events dedicated to appreciating and understanding the roles of zoos and aquariums in society. At Kamogawa Sea World, the special lecture titled "Caring for Aquatic Creatures" will give attendees an in-depth view of the species housed in the aquarium.

International Museum Day Lectures

Following this, on May 18, which is designated as "International Museum Day" by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) since 1977, Kamogawa Sea World will hold another special lecture focused on "Conservation of Endangered Species." This initiative aims to increase public awareness about the role of aquariums in conservation. The lecture will outline the efforts made by the facility to protect endangered species and their habitats.
