Midas Secures Record-Breaking $80 Million in Series B Funding

In a significant milestone for Turkey’s fintech sector, Midas, the country's leading investment platform, has successfully raised $80 million in its Series B funding round. This marks the largest investment ever made in a Turkish fintech company, bringing Midas's total funding to over $140 million to date.

Founded in 2020, Midas caters to 3.5 million investors, providing them with access to the Borsa Istanbul, U.S. stock markets, mutual funds, and cryptocurrencies—all through a single platform. The newly acquired capital will enable the company to bolster its security infrastructure to meet international standards and accelerate the development of advanced products aimed at active traders.

Support from Global Fintech Investors

The funding round was spearheaded by QED Investors, one of the most prestigious fintech funds globally. Notable new investors also include the International Finance Corporation (IFC), HSG (formerly Sequoia China), QuantumLight (founded by Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky), and Spice Expeditions LP, among others. Existing backers such as Spark Capital, Portage Ventures, Bek Ventures, and Nigel Morris participated as well, reaffirming their confidence in Midas.

These funds have a reputation for early-stage investments in global technology leaders, including TikTok, Alibaba, and Coinbase. The overwhelming support from international investors underscores Midas's role as a pioneer in transforming the fintech landscape in Turkey. Yusuf Özdalga, a partner at QED Investors, stated, “Midas has opened enormous national and global investment opportunities for Turkish users through state-of-the-art fintech tools.” He expressed excitement about collaborating with Midas to foster growth in Turkey and beyond.

Users have collectively saved nearly $50 million in transaction fees, with half of them initiating their investment journeys with Midas. By drastically reducing costs, the company has set new industry benchmarks. Following a 90% reduction in trading fees in the U.S., Midas has now permanently eliminated all commissions for transactions on the Borsa Istanbul, making it the go-to choice for Turkish retail investors.

In addition to free live market data and instant transfers without fees, Midas is also gearing up to launch tools tailored to more sophisticated investors. Following the recent introduction of margin investing and advanced analytics, the firm plans to utilize its Series B funding to roll out derivatives trading for both Turkish and U.S. stocks, starting in September with U.S. options trading.
