In an exciting announcement, Plott, a Tokyo-based company focused on IP content planning and production, is set to produce a new short anime series titled Mappy-chu! This series will be based on the beloved arcade game Mappy, which first launched in 1983 by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Fans can look forward to regular releases that will kick off on February 22, aptly designated as Mouse Day. Starting then, viewers can catch the episodes on both TikTok and YouTube, with updates and campaigns also available on X (formerly Twitter).

About Mappy-chu!

Mappy-chu! reimagines the classic arcade game with a modern touch. Each episode runs for approximately 30 seconds and will feature the charming adventures of Mappy, a mouse police officer, as he navigates through the chaotic yet peaceful town of Kannyai, ready to tackle both minor and major incidents. The series aims to bring smiles to viewers for 30 seconds a day with its humorous narrative.

1. A Weekly Dose of Cheer
Every week, viewers can expect a fun-filled, chaotic escapade from Mappy. Set in the serene town of Kannyai, Mappy uses his over-the-top sense of justice to tackle absurd events. The show's comedic premise is designed for modern-day viewers, bringing a light-hearted escape to those facing daily challenges.

2. Adorable Character Designs
Icons from the original game have been revamped into cute, stylish versions, showcasing their personalities vividly. Mappy, considered the "weakest" police officer, turns even the smallest incidents into grand adventures. The character roster includes:

- Nyaamko: A timid cat burglar with nine kittens who avoids confrontation with Mappy.
- Myoukichi: The mischievous troublemaker and eldest son.
- Myuta: The energetic second son, who is tech-savvy.
- MyuMyu: The youngest daughter and the charming idol of the Nyaamko household.

The character designs are crafted by Jessica Kogure, with additional contributions from Keita Takahashi.

3. Catchy and Vibrant Music
The nostalgic 8-bit sounds from the original Mappy game have been remixed into catchy, contemporary tracks. The new music aims to be addictive and memorable, perfect for the short episodes. Sound designer Mei Osawa from Bandai Namco Studio is behind these fresh sounds.
