Ericsson Completes Strategic Joint Venture with Global CSPs for Aduna

Ericsson has officially completed the equity investment process for its subsidiary Aduna, cementing a strategic partnership with twelve leading global communication service providers (CSPs). Announced on July 29, 2025, this critical milestone establishes Aduna as a 50-50 joint venture, with Ericsson and its partners equally sharing ownership.

Aduna's Formation and Mission

Founded after Ericsson's strategic decision in September 2024 to combine the aggregated network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) from multiple telecom operators, Aduna is designed to streamline and enhance the API offerings available to developers worldwide. Its equity structure now includes major telecommunications players such as ATT, Bharti Airtel, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, Orange, Reliance Jio, Singtel, Telefonica, Telstra, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Vodafone.

Powerful Ecosystem and Support

The financial backing and corporate agreements with these giants provide not only resources but also crucial industry support for Aduna. Each CSP contributes valuable know-how, industry expertise, and extensive operator relationships to enhance the venture’s capabilities. Furthermore, Ericsson has pledged its global network infrastructure, establishing a solid foundation for Aduna to innovate and expand its offerings rapidly.

Aduna’s CEO Anthony Bartolo expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “The closing of the transaction is another important step for Aduna. In just ten months, we have built an impressive ecosystem with some of the largest names in telecommunications and the broader ICT landscape. This closure paves the way for us to accelerate the adoption of network APIs by developers worldwide, thereby enhancing the telecom operator and developer interactions.”

Expanding Partnerships

Beyond the initial founding partners, Aduna’s network ecosystem rapidly includes a diverse spectrum of technology collaborators. Various global system integrators (GSI) and independent software vendors (ISVs) are joining the fold, all committed to broadening the reach and efficacy of network APIs on a global scale.

Notable additions to the ecosystem include Bouygues Telecom, Free, CelcomDigi, Softbank, NTT DOCOMO, Google Cloud, Vonage, Sinch, Infobip, Enstream, Bridge Alliance, Syniverse, JT Global, Microsoft, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra, which collectively play a fundamental role in propelling the influence of Aduna’s APIs across different markets.

The Vision Ahead

The Aduna venture, built upon the CAMARA open-source project driven by GSMA and the Linux Foundation, aims to create standardized APIs that enhance collaboration among telecom operators, ultimately fostering a dynamic environment for innovation and improved user experiences. By streamlining the API landscape, Aduna intends to reduce barriers for developers and accelerate technological advancements across industries.

As Aduna progresses towards its ambitious goals, its commitment to drive growth in the telecom industry is clear. By harnessing the strengths and resources of its joint-venture partners, Aduna stands on the threshold of transforming how developers and operators interact with network capabilities, unlocking new potentials for innovation in the digital sphere.
