TXU Energy Boosts Winter Warmth Program with $350,000 for Texans in Need

TXU Energy Expands Its Winter Warmth Program

In a time when many Texans face challenging circumstances, especially during the holiday season, TXU Energy has stepped up by amplifying its annual Winter Warmth program with a significant commitment of $350,000. This initiative aims to support families across Texas, providing crucial resources that assist them in putting food on their tables and ensuring their homes remain warm and welcoming during winter months.

The allocated funds will be distributed among TXU Energy's long-standing partners in non-profit and social services throughout the state, from the Panhandle down to the Gulf Coast. These organizations are well-positioned to connect directly with families in need, offering essential services that include groceries, holiday turkeys, blankets for the frigid winter, and assistance with electricity bill payments.

Scott Hudson, the president of TXU Energy, remarked, "Across Texas, food banks and local nonprofits continue to face increasing demand. When our partners recently shared how urgent the need has become, we saw an opportunity to quickly provide additional support through our Winter Warmth program. They're on the front lines every day, helping Texans through difficult times, and we're honored to stand alongside them."

Enhancing Bill Payment Assistance

TXU Energy Aid has a rich history of providing support, having distributed over $140 million in bill-payment assistance over the past 40 years. This remarkable program impacts around 20,000 families each year, helping to keep their homes illuminated and safe. The support comes from donations made by TXU Energy employees and customers, as well as from the company itself, and is facilitated through various social service partner agencies.

In light of the holiday season, TXU Energy has also allocated an additional $200,000 to Energy Aid to enhance bill payment assistance. For customers seeking help, they can easily connect with social service agencies that distribute Energy Aid funds by dialling 2-1-1 and inquiring about “bill payment assistance.”

A Legacy of Community Support

Since its inception, the Winter Warmth program has been pivotal in assisting thousands of Texans through partnerships with local food banks, social service agencies, and nonprofit organizations. This year’s expansion of the program underscores TXU Energy’s unwavering commitment to supporting communities during difficult times and ensuring that every family can partake in the joy and spirit of the holiday season.
