KDDI Partners with 4v4 Soccer for Future Aspirations
KDDI Corporation, based in Minato, Tokyo, has officially announced its partnership with Now Do Corporation to become the main sponsor of the youth-targeted 4v4 soccer league, conceptualized by renowned soccer player Keisuke Honda. This partnership marks a significant milestone as KDDI aims to contribute to the development of young talent through innovative soccer formats. The collaboration will begin on April 16, 2026, and support the league that has seen growth since its inception in 2023.
Committed to Empowering Future Stars
KDDI's commitment to enhancing its slogan, "Connecting Power, Evolving Society," is mirrored in its support of soccer initiatives like 4v4. This unique soccer format prioritizes individual players’ decision-making and leadership skills, instilling a sense of independence and teamwork among participants. The aim is to nurture the potential of future soccer stars and further enrich Japan's soccer landscape.
A Refreshing Approach for the 2026 Season
The structure of the 4v4 league will see an evolution in 2026, where teams that progress through the initial rounds will compete in the 'Regional Representative Decision Round' for a chance to reach the coveted '4v4 FINALS.' KDDI plans to engage with communities by setting up experiential booths featuring soccer activities during the Regional Representative Decision Rounds, fostering connections among local children, parents, and participants, while enhancing local engagement.
Creating More Opportunities for Youth
In line with its support for the league, KDDI will also host special wildcard tournaments and campaign events that pave the way for additional challenges and opportunities for young athletes aiming for the 4v4 FINALS. Specific event names and details will be disclosed in due course, providing an enticing prospect for youth soccer enthusiasts.
Building Supportive Communities
Furthermore, the management of 4v4 by Now Do will leverage the "ANYTEAM" community platform, which serves as an official communication tool among teams and competition organizers across Japan. This initiative will help energize team activities and maximize support through crowdfunding functionalities, ensuring teams have the backing they need to thrive.
Broadcasting Matches Live
To enhance visibility, KDDI, in collaboration with Undou Tsushinsha, will also live-stream “4v4 JAPAN CUP” scheduled for February 2027 through the internet sports media “SPORTS BULL.” This initiative aims to share the achievements of young athletes with families, friends, and sports fans nationwide, emphasizing the community focus of the league. Further details on live broadcasting will be made available later.
About the 4v4 Initiative
The 4v4 format is designed specifically for elementary school students (U10, U12) with a mission to democratize access to soccer competitions. With fast-paced, 10-minute matches, players are allowed free substitutions, a 20-second shot clock, and active participation of goalkeepers in offensive plays. This innovative approach allows children to make tactical decisions autonomously, including team changes and strategy formation, providing them with key life skills through soccer. The league rewards cumulative points throughout the season, leading teams to compete for the summit at the 4v4 FINALS.
By nurturing qualities like decision-making, accountability, and leadership through collaborative play, the 4v4 league aims to shape capable future leaders and contribute to the overall growth of Japanese soccer. For further information on the 4v4 league, please visit the official website at
