LG Electronics Maintains Stronghold on Global OLED TV Market for 12th Straight Year

LG Electronics Dominates Global OLED TV Market

LG Electronics has once again reaffirmed its position as the unrivaled leader in the premium television market. According to recent reports, the company has managed to secure over 52.4% of the global market share for OLED TVs in 2024, marking the 12th consecutive year at the top of this competitive segment.

The impressive sales figures were revealed by market research firm Omdia, noting that LG shipped 3.18 million OLED TV units in the previous year alone. This figure is particularly notable given that in the fourth quarter, the company shipped more than 1.1 million units. The ongoing evolution of consumer preferences along with LG's commitment to delivering technology that enhances the viewing experience has undeniably propelled the brand to such heights.

As part of the ever-growing premium TV market, OLED technology accounts for a significant 45% in this category, which encompasses models priced at $1,500 or above. This reflects an increase of 8.5 percentage points compared to the year prior. Analysts predict that this trend will continue, potentially seeing OLED TVs exceed 50% of the market this year. The steady rise in demand for larger screens has contributed to increased shipments for ultra-large OLED TVs, which now represent 16% of the overall OLED market.

In a compelling display of dominance, LG holds a substantial 57.5% share in OLED screens measuring 75 inches and above. Their latest offerings include a range of sizes from 77-inch to gigantic models like 97-inch OLED TVs. LG's sustained innovation in OLED technology ensures that consumers can expect features such as wireless transmission of audio and visual content up to 4K at 144Hz, all without any lag or degradation in quality.

Moreover, AI-powered personalization capabilities through the LG webOS platform enhance the viewing experience, catering to the preferences and habits of individual users. The OLED technology itself is designed to deliver perfect black levels and superior brightness, elevating the overall picture quality to new heights.

Global TV shipments rebounded in the previous year, reaching a total of 208.8 million units after a three-year downturn. Notably, OLED TV shipments grew by 8% year-on-year, amounting to 6.07 million units. LG's overall TV shipments, including both OLED and LCD models, amounted to 22.6 million units, corresponding to 16.1% of the total global TV market revenue.

The leadership of LG Electronics in the OLED TV sector is underscored by its ongoing commitment to innovation and consumer satisfaction. Moreover, with annual global revenues exceeding $60 billion, LG continues to be a significant player in not just televisions, but across varied tech products, ranging from home appliances to commercial displays and vehicle components.

With the 2025 OLED evo TV lineup on the horizon and their continued dedication to advancing OLED technology, LG is poised to maintain its stronghold in the premium television market. As consumer demand for larger and more efficient displays grows, LG's commitment to excellence is expected to resonate with tech-savvy audiences worldwide.
