TCL Electronics Holdings Limited (stock code: 01070.HK) has announced robust global shipment figures for the first quarter of 2025, marking a significant start to the year. The company has reported a total of 6.51 million TV units shipped globally, which equates to an impressive 11.4% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth is mainly attributed to the strategic dual-brand approach, promoting both the TCL and Falcon brands, and a strong emphasis on large-screen and high-end televisions.
The company’s strategy centers around enhancing product competitiveness through the integration of cutting-edge technologies like Mini LED and QLED displays, featuring advanced AI capabilities. As a result, TCL’s sales revenue in the first quarter surged by 22.3% year-over-year, showcasing the positive consumer reception towards its high-quality product offerings.
Driving Growth in Larger Screen TVs
TCL has uniquely positioned itself amid a global trend favoring larger screen televisions. During the first quarter, the demand for 65-inch and above models saw significant growth, with shipments rising by 33.0% year-over-year. Moreover, televisions measuring 75 inches and above exhibited a remarkable uptick of 41.6%, contributing to an increase in the average screen size shipped, now at 53.4 inches. This shift towards larger formats reflects consumers’ growing preferences for immersive viewing experiences.
The flagship Mini LED TVs, equipped with advanced features like the CrystGlow WHVA Panel and All-domain Halo Control Technology, have consistently delivered superior picture quality, enhancing contrast and minimizing reflections. This has significantly improved user experience, with shipments of TCL’s QLED TVs increasing by an astounding 74.9% year-over-year, and Mini LED TVs soaring by 232.9%.
Strong Performance in Domestic and International Markets
In the domestic market, TCL reported a 10.8% year-over-year growth in shipments. The company’s focus on expanding its range of large-screen and mid-to-high-end products has yielded impressive results. In the PRC, the shipment of 65-inch and above TVs constituted 54.7% of total shipments, further demonstrating TCL’s stronghold in this segment.
Global sales revenue in the PRC also rose by 35.4% year-over-year, with the average selling price increasing by 22.2%. In international markets, TCL announced an important milestone by becoming a Worldwide Olympic Partner in early 2025, further enhancing its global brand awareness. This partnership aligns with TCL's strategy to strengthen its position in various smart device categories like TVs and other home appliances, contributing to a 17.2% increase in international sales revenue.
Regionally, TCL’s success can be observed in the European market, where shipments increased by 15.8% year-on-year, particularly in the 75-inch and above category, which surged by 74.4%.
