THE ORAL CIGARETTES Set to Release Their First Arena Tour Movie to Celebrate Their Return

On October 11, 2023, at Marunouchi Piccadilly in Tokyo, the members of THE ORAL CIGARETTES graced the stage during a special screening of their film, "AlterGeist0000 ARENA TOUR 2025 THE MOVIE." This film, a celebration of their long-awaited return to arena touring after six years, features a blend of live concert footage, behind-the-scenes documentaries, and brand-new member interviews, offering fans an exclusive glimpse into the band's journey during this iconic tour.

The atmosphere was electric, as live screenings were broadcasted across movie theaters nationwide, allowing fans to engage in real-time with the members' insights and experiences. Following their April arena tour, the band is set to release the accompanying LIVE Blu-ray on December 24, 2023, marking a significant milestone in their career. The two-day limited screening event witnessed enthusiastic fans flocking to enjoy and commemorate this significant occasion.

During the initial stage greeting, Takuro Yamanaka, the lead vocalist, addressed the audience, asking, "How did you like it?" The crowd erupted in applause and cheers, fully appreciating the opportunity to witness the band’s efforts on the big screen. The arena tour was aligned with the release of their sixth album, "AlterGeist0000," and marked a significant milestone following their extensive nationwide live house tour.

The members reflected on their recent tour experience; they felt a palpable sense of achievement as they prepared for the bigger arena stage. Yamanaka expressed, “We are extremely satisfied with how everything turned out. It’s a joy to share this with all of you." He also mentioned that the stage design was simpler compared to previous tours, focusing on the performance and visuals forged by a collective effort with fellow creatives. Shigenobu Suzuki, another member, noted how their large-scale projected visuals were more impressive than ever, ensuring that the cinematic experience would captivate audiences across the country.

The unique perspectives offered by the live footage make it particularly intriguing. Masaya Nakanishi emphasized, "It was something else! The energy was palpable, and having cameras capture that made the entire experience riveting. Being back in an arena after so long, the richness of the visuals truly resonated with the audience." Moments capturing audience reactions were also highlighted, with Yamanaka teasing the fans about being unaware during filming, while Akira clearly expressed delight in witnessing the audience’s emotions up close.

Running the Q&A segment themselves without a facilitator, the four members indulged in an array of discussions about their shared experiences. They engaged with fans directly, answering questions and enjoying playful interactions. A special surprise unfolded when a birthday cake was presented to Suzuki, who turned 35 that day. The crowd serenaded him with a birthday song, and amidst the laughs, he was prompted to sing, delighting everyone with his rendition of "Happy Birthday to Me." Gratefully acknowledging the fans, he shared his excitement about upcoming tours and stated, "Next year brings new adventures, and I plan to keep pushing forward without using my age as an excuse!"

As the event drew to a close, Yamanaka articulated heartfelt sentiments towards the film, stating, "When I revisited the footage, I found that I was unexpectedly moved by how much everyone mattered. I’d love for this to reach not just fans, but also fellow artists, to show that an arena can be filled with such love and warmth. I hope this sparks a movement to recognize that arenas can be vibrant spaces too!" He concluded with a promise to continue performing in various venues, big or small, urging fans to stay tuned for what lies ahead.

Fans should also note that the pre-orders for the Blu-ray of the concert will be available until October 19, 2023, offering an opportunity to own this coveted piece of memorabilia.
