The partnership is structured to prepare for large-scale disasters and power outages by creating support systems that include provision of supplies, deployment of personnel, and electricity supply from the energy storage units. What is a Grid-Connected Energy Storage System?

Grid-connected energy storage systems are large-scale battery installations that capitalize on renewable energy, also helping to manage the balance of electricity supply and demand. These systems charge when there is surplus energy in the network and discharge electricity as needed, proving critical for the stable operation of variable renewable energy sources like solar and wind power.

Emergency Applications of the Storage Systems


The energy storage facilities managed by Nippon Storage Battery feature external power outlets operated by qualified personnel. In emergency situations, these systems allow for the release of stored electricity to supply portable batteries, smartphones, laptops, and other critical communication devices. This enables effective information access and connectivity during crises.

Power Supply Capacity


Research indicates that a household of two requires approximately 17kWh of electricity over a 72-hour period (around 5.6kWh per day). Nippon Storage Battery's planned storage system, with a rated capacity of approximately 8MWh (8,146kWh), can supply power to around 470 households over the same period. Such storage solutions have the potential to become vital elements of regional infrastructure in disaster scenarios.
