Okinawa Clean Challenge Cup 2025 Qualifier Held: Team Initials TTT Takes the Crown!

Okinawa Clean Challenge Cup 2025 Has Begun!

On December 6, 2025, the Okinawa Clean Challenge Cup 2025's Iitoman STAGE took place at the Yuigokoro Center in Iitoman City, organized by Ryukyu Corazon and operated by the eSports GOMI Conference, which includes the Japan Foundation's Spo GOMI Association and Life Reversal Gaming, Inc. The event saw participation from 16 teams, comprising a total of 48 participants, who competed to collect garbage within a set time limit, earning points based on the amount and type of trash collected. The top three teams have qualified for the final stage scheduled to be held in February 2026 at Urasoe City.

What is eSports GOMI?

eSports GOMI is an innovative environmental activity aimed at raising awareness about the global marine litter crisis through competitive sports. It blends competitive gaming with community service by adding a sporty essence to litter collection activities. Teams of three compete against the clock to gather as much garbage as possible, with points awarded based on quantity and type. This initiative not only promotes cleaning up the community but also makes it enjoyable for participants of all ages, from children to adults.

A Success in Iitoman City

The Iitoman STAGE successfully engaged teams of all ages, offering a competitive yet enjoyable atmosphere. Participants embraced the challenge, and in addition to the main event, a "Puyo Puyo eSports" tournament took place, enhancing interaction and excitement among attendees.

After a thrilling competition, the champion was Team Initials TTT, scoring 2,198 points after retrieving 11.78 kg of trash. KAZUTO followed closely in second place with 1,265 points from 8.090 kg, and Ryukyu Komeda secured third place with 1,178 points from 5.710 kg. In total, all teams successfully collected 45.815 kg of litter, showcasing the effective blend of community service with sporting spirit.

Highlights from Team Initials TTT

Team Initials TTT reported that they found many pieces of trash at the fishing port. Their success can be attributed to a strategy of targeting areas less frequented by other teams. "I love picking up trash, as well as handball and eSports, and we aimed for the championship!" they exclaimed.

Ryukyu Corazon's Thoughts

Ryukyu Corazon, the event’s organizer, expressed gratitude towards local government and supporting companies for their assistance in making this inaugural Iitoman event a success. They noted the remarkable performance from adult teams, which added to the competition's excitement. Reactions from participants were overwhelmingly positive, with many requesting future events, reflecting the joy of participation above all.

The final stage is eagerly anticipated, featuring 16 teams that include those who excelled in previous qualifiers, competing for ultimate victory. The organizers are looking forward to a dynamic showdown!

Future Prospects

The Okinawa Clean Challenge aims to expand its activities and may eventually hold events in other Japanese prefectures and internationally. The initiative fosters a culture of community cleanliness and environmental stewardship, blending sports and ecology creatively.
