Exciting Summer Events at THE STUDY ROOM

The study room, operated by Luminé Associates, is thrilled to announce a series of engaging summer events aimed at stimulating intellectual curiosity among both children and adults. Scheduled in conjunction with the summer vacation period, these exciting workshops and activities will be held at their locations in Sendai and Ueno.

Activities in Sendai

Located on the third floor of the E-Spar Sendai East Building, the following events are designed to captivate participants of all ages:

1. Mineral Excavation Event: "Treasure Hunter"

Get ready for an adventurous treasure hunt! Participants will have one minute to dig through sand and find real minerals hidden within. Everything collected in the designated container can be taken home at the end of the time limit.

• - Dates: July 18 (Saturday) to July 21 (Tuesday)
• - Times: (1) 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, (2) 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
• - Location: THE STUDY ROOM Sendai Store
• - Fee: 500 yen including tax
• - Capacity: 20 participants per session, no reservation needed

2. Diorama Workshop: "Creating Unique Worlds with Minerals"

This workshop, led by Sayuri Shimazu, a renowned artist known for integrating mineral specimens into captivating dioramas, will allow participants to create their very own piece of art. With themes of either summer or winter landscapes, attendees can express their imagination while learning the art of diorama-making.

• - Dates: August 1 (Saturday) and August 2 (Sunday)
• - Fee: 15,000 yen including tax
• - Capacity: 6 participants per session, suitable for elementary school students and above (children must be accompanied by a guardian)

3. Pop-Up Antique Market: "Insects and Antiques"

Following up on last year's success with themed events, THE STUDY ROOM is hosting a pop-up shop featuring insect-related antiques and collectibles.

• - Dates: August 5 (Wednesday) to August 9 (Sunday)
• - Location: E-Spar 2, Ships event space
• - Special workshops will take place on weekends!

Events in Ueno

At the Ueno store (inside JR Ueno Station, third floor of Ecute Ueno), one highlight is:

Insect Dissection Workshop: "Mushi Mushi Choukai"

This popular workshop allows participants to observe and learn about the anatomy of edible insects (past their expiration date) through dissection! It's a unique and educational experience perfect for summer research projects. Participants will receive a complimentary "Tagame Cider" as a souvenir!

• - Dates: July 25 (Saturday) and July 26 (Sunday)
• - Fee: 2,500 yen (including one bottle of Tagame Cider)
• - Capacity: 10 participants per session
