Historic Concert for America’s 250th Anniversary
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is thrilled to announce a once-in-a-lifetime concert featuring the legendary Patti LaBelle, scheduled for April 18, 2026. This special event, taking place at the historic DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., celebrates the nation's 250th anniversary with a focus on honoring women veterans.
A Night to Remember
At 7 p.m. on April 18, concertgoers will gather at the DAR Constitution Hall, a venue steeped in history since its opening in 1929. This concert is more than just a performance; it's a tribute to the bravery and sacrifices made by women who have served in the military throughout America's history. Ginnie Sebastian Storage, the DAR President General, expressed excitement about this unique opportunity, stating, "We are privileged to present this special event which underscores the immense contributions of military women."
Patti LaBelle, renowned as the "Godmother of Soul," is set to take the stage, delivering a powerful and moving performance. Known for her incredible vocal talent and stage presence, LaBelle's concert will feature a range of her timeless hits, including classics such as "Lady Marmalade" and "On My Own." Fans can expect a night filled with music that spans her illustrious career.
Paying Tribute to Servicemen and Servicewomen
The concert aims to honor America's military women both past and present. A brief program will precede LaBelle's performance, highlighting the importance of women in the military and recognizing organizations that support them, such as the Military Women's Memorial. Proceeds from this landmark concert will support DAR’s grant program, which aids organizations that assist homeless and indigent women veterans.
In addition to the concert, DAR will host a family-friendly public event earlier in the day from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at DAR Headquarters. This free celebration will include various activities at the DAR Library and Museum, along with complimentary cupcakes and refreshments to mark America's birthday.
