St. Johns County Introduces New Podcast Programs for Enhanced Community Connection

St. Johns County Launches Engaging Podcast Lineup

In a significant move to foster community connection and enhance transparency, St. Johns County is rolling out an exciting new array of official podcasts and radio programs. These initiatives aim to effectively inform, engage, and connect the public with local government, ensuring timely access to relevant information via on-demand audio, video, and live broadcasts on various platforms.

The newly introduced lineup includes three distinctive shows, each designed to cater to different community interests while promoting a culture of active civic participation. This initiative is a part of a broader communication strategy focusing on transparency and building trust within the community.

A Look at the New Podcast Shows

1. County Conversations: The first show, "County Conversations," features in-depth discussions with key county leaders, staff members, and local partners. This program delves into major county initiatives, services, and critical issues that affect residents' daily lives. Listeners can find this show available in both audio format on all major streaming platforms and as video content on the official St. Johns County YouTube channel. Produced in collaboration with WFCF 88.5 Flagler College Radio, it airs on Fridays at 5:30 PM and Sundays at 6:30 PM. The first few episodes spotlight significant topics such as infrastructure, roads and stormwater management, parks projects, and public facilities.

2. Behind the SJCenes: Created in partnership with WSOS 103.9 St. Augustine Radio, this show engages with the community by discussing the recent Board of County Commissioners meetings and featuring guest interviews that tackle timely local issues. Airing live on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 8:30 AM, it also offers an audio podcast version available on all major platforms, along with video content on YouTube.

3. The SJC Report: The third show, "The SJC Report," serves to provide quick updates on county news and project developments. In partnership with WFOY 102.1 FM, this program is broadcast live every second Tuesday at 8 AM, allowing residents to stay informed about essential county activities while also being available on the station's Facebook page.

Commitment to Community Engagement

According to Matt Denny, Digital Media Manager, the expanded podcast lineup is a testament to the County's commitment to its Strategic Plan, which prioritizes Community Trust. By emphasizing proactive communication and transparency, the county aims to increase opportunities for civic engagement and make information more accessible across multiple platforms.

The new podcast initiative aims to significantly enhance public awareness about county projects, services, and long-term planning efforts. It is a continuation of the successful momentum established by the Office of Public Affairs, which has recently received accolades from the Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA) for excellence in public communication. St. Johns County garnered awards for its innovative marketing campaigns and communications excellence, further underlining the county's dedication to engaging its residents.
