New Art Gallery 'Art Liberation Zone Ningyocho' to Open in 2025

A New Cultural Hub: Art Liberation Zone Ningyocho

On September 3, 2025, a fresh venue for creativity will launch in the heart of Tokyo: the "Art Liberation Zone Ningyocho." This exciting collaboration between Space, Inc. and Tagboat, Inc., both based in Chuo City, Tokyo, will transform the first floor and basement of an existing building into a vibrant art gallery designed to bring the local community and artists together.

Bridging Art and Community

The Art Liberation Zone Ningyocho stands on the foundation of the concept established by Tagboat in 2020. It aims to provide artists with an open space for unrestricted self-expression while fostering local revitalization through art. The gallery will serve as a platform for dynamic interactions between contemporary art and the rich cultural heritage of Ningyocho, blending youthful creativity with the historic charm of this traditional Tokyo neighborhood.

Opening Exhibition: 'UNLABLED'

The gallery will debut with the group exhibition "UNLABLED," running from September 3 to September 26, 2025. This inaugural showcase aims to highlight the free expression of emerging artists without the constraints of labels. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with a spectrum of artworks that exemplify the potential of modern art. The exhibition will feature a diverse range of talents, including:

  • - 1F: Kohei Nitta, Kamihasami, Shingo Horiguchi, Tamaki Kitamura, Yoshinori Komatsu
  • - B1F: Antacanta, VIKI, Kyoko Ogiso-Waits, Eri Iguchi, Chihiro Kudo, Yuta Nakajima, Harusuke Mizuno, Kotaro Okuyama, Yasuyuki Tsuchiya

Please note that the list of exhibiting artists may change without notice.

Concept of the Art Liberation Zone Ningyocho

  • - Freedom of Expression: Removing spatial and formal restrictions allows for an inventive display of artworks, free from genre or size limitations. The gallery seeks to provide an environment that balances creative production and everyday life.
  • - Cultural Energization: As a historical area steeped in Edo culture, Ningyocho will benefit from the infusion of art and youthful perspectives, generating new cultural energy and enhancing community relations.
  • - Simultaneous Online Sales: In addition to the on-site exhibitions, artworks will also be available for sale on Tagboat’s online platform, ensuring that even those who cannot visit in person can explore and purchase the artworks.

Future Prospects

Beyond exhibitions, the gallery plans to host live painting sessions, workshops, and talks, encouraging interactive experiences. Collaborations with other creative domains, such as fashion, film, and music, are also on the horizon to establish a multi-layered cultural hub.
