On September 13, 2026, Toshima Ward will transform into a bustling hub of activity as it hosts the highly anticipated
2026 Slackline Pro League - Round 2 and the
2026 Iiyama Snow Wonderland simultaneously. Held at the Tokyo International University Ikebukuro Campus, this event promises to bring together some of the finest athletes in the sport of slacklining and a snowy adventure for families and individuals of all ages.
The
Slackline Pro League, a premier competition for slacklining, will feature 14 top athletes who have passed video screenings showcasing their incredible skills. Slacklining, a sport where participants balance on a narrow strap stretched between two anchors, is more than just a physical challenge; it promotes balance and core strength in an exciting and engaging way. This year, the league consists of a total of three rounds, two of which are being held in Toshima, making it a focal point for urban sports enthusiasts.
The event will occur from
9:45 AM to 4:00 PM, and admission is free, making it accessible for everyone. With breathtaking performances and thrilling competition, spectators can expect to witness some dynamic displays of athletic prowess. The organizers aim to not only provide entertainment but also to inspire young people and bridge the experience gap in urban sports, promoting intergenerational exchanges through these exhilarating activities.
Alongside the slackline competition,
Iiyama Snow Wonderland will be hosted at the adjacent Ike-San Park. From
10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, this snowy extravaganza will present a delightful winter wonderland complete with 20 tons of natural snow imported from Iiyama, Nagano. Attendees can partake in various activities like sliding on snow hills, enjoying local Iiyama specialties, and engaging with numerous fun experiences such as operating power shovels and riding four-wheeled buggies for memorable pictures.
The goal of these events is to create a workspace for children to enjoy safe and engaging ways to stay active. The Toshima Ward officials emphasize their commitment to providing an environment that encourages kids to develop their physical skills while having fun. According to a spokesperson from the ward, "We have continuously held experience sessions in our community squares to promote urban sports. By participating in world-class pro leagues and snow play experiences, we hope to connect participants with the distinct charms of urban sports and nature. Our aspiration is to foster rich life experiences through intergenerational interactions. We look forward to welcoming a large crowd to witness and be part of this engaging day!"
To further encourage participation,
slacklining experience sessions for pre-schoolers and elementary students are ongoing at 22 community squares in Toshima until
December 25. These programs aim to mitigate the experience gap and promote the accessibility of urban sports within the community.
